    RadRover 2WD

I beat them to it! I have a Bafang true 750 rear hub motor, 35a controller in rear, and a 1000w front hub motor with its' own controller and throttle. They are independently controlled with separate throttles and it works great!

DIY adding more lights (turing signals) etc - anyone done this?

Just plug it into the charging port! Simple and very effective. I did that and have 3 headlights, all rated up to 60 volts, and I can light up the beach or golf course when I take night rides!

I have one of those meters from my RC Hobby side of the garage. I will dig it out and start to play! Thanks!

How to turn the Rover over

Make certain you remove your battery if you hang your bike vertically! Those Lithium Ions can spill out, and you will not only have a mess to clean up, but you will need to refill the ions in order to work properly. The same thing goes for those older plasma TV's, and you had to refill the...

    EGO battery

Thanks for the responses. The plug and wires are definitely not the issue, but it appears as if the 2.5Ah is just not up top the task. However, it will make a fine back-up battery. If I acquire another, preferable 5Ah or 7.5Ah, I will report back on their performance. I am finding them at...

    EGO battery

I finally got around to mounting my EGO battery pack on my Rad Runner. It is 56v, 2.5 Ah, and I mounted it with a 3D printed mount and plug acquired on then net. I was disappointed to see that my speed and acceleration actually decreased compared to my stock 48v battery pack. I know from...

Although, in retrospect, perhaps I should have read the negative comments first!

    Secondary Battery

Only time will tell. This is my hobby, for now, and I usually jump into my hobbies enthusiastically! I wish I had all of the wasted money on such endeavors back, but the fun is worth it!

    Secondary Battery

You are correct, my post made no sense. It should have read: I just cannot justify dumping $600 on a name brand RAD or Shark battery. EVEN IF the Chinese battery only delivers 1/4 the advertised 22Ah's, I'm ahead!

    Secondary Battery

If you follow me you know I have a 1000w hub motor in FRONT, along with a true 750w Baffang motor in rear. So far I have used the stock RAD battery for both motors, through a simple splitter. Recently I mounted a dedicated battery mount for an "EGO" battery for the front motor, on my bike...

    New Front Light -- comments?

I bought 3 after market very high power headlamps, and mounted one where the original went, and 2 more mounted high on handlebar extensions. I can illuminate far and wide, which comes in handy for night time beach and golf course rides!. I plug them directly into the charging port of the...

    Front dropout fortification

I would have to guess the weight of the wheel/hub combo in front and in rear about the same, perhaps less due to the lack of a gear set. Here is another photo of the front motor. The front hub is narrower, but larger in diameter. For whatever is is worth, I would not recommend this...

    Front dropout fortification

My setup is working well! The front 1000w motor is not very "torquey", but it does get me up to over 30 MPH alone on pavement. It is sufficient in the sand to keep me going straight (enough) and not bogging into the sand. I think the rear wheel still does most of the propulsion in the sand...

    EGO battery

Very interesting! My brother has a nice 3D printer. Can you incorporate wires (conductors) and metal pins into a 3D printed item? Thanks!

    EGO battery

I picked up an EGO brand Lithium Ion 56v 2.5 Ah battery and charger at a garage sale for next to nothing. It is small, light, and appears to be a well rated popular heavy duty battery for large yard tools like lawn mowers and snow blowers. I see they make them up to 80v and 10Ah, and many other...

AND, it is only $50 for a simple socket. I think I will continue to resort to my 90 degree needle nose pliers!

Repurpose RAD battery as emergency power source

Super simple! Simply purchase one of these on Amazon for a buck (or better yet buy the package), and plug right into the charging port on the battery. I use the port to power some super high intensity LED lights for my night rides on the beach and golf course...

Repurpose RAD battery as emergency power source

Also, the Bolton (and other) displays have a USB port on it, which is more than adequate to charge a cell phone right on your bike! I do it every ride!
