Known Issues & Problems with Giant Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Motor now replaced by Giant dealer. Strangely, auto setting feels different - no longer so responsive as it was before

That’s not a system error I guess. Just no power? Loose battery connection? Anyway, dealer has a legal obligation to fix or replace faulty goods.

Ask them to ride it for 5 minutes to see the problem?

Known Issues & Problems with Giant Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

My local Giant dealer is fine. Just take it back to your local dealer. Should be under warranty. They should have software to detect what the issue is and fix it.

Known Issues & Problems with Giant Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Which error light comes on with the red light? Check next time it happens, and look in the manual. Some errors you can fix. I got “Motor Error”, so went to dealer. He detected faulty Torque Sensor, so has sent for a replacement sensor from Giant under warranty

    Giant Embolden E+1

Just taken the bike to the Giant dealer who said my “motor issue” fault was caused by failure of the torque sensor (bike is 8 weeks old). A replacement sensor has been ordered

    Problem with latest firmware update

Now fixed thanks - I switched on the bike and connected it to the app, then tried download again, and it worked this time. Could be coincidence, but maybe it prefers the connection to the bike in order to work properly!

    Problem with latest firmware update

A new app problem for me “Activity Upload Fail” after a ride today. Giant App also kept crashing (iPhone) when I tried to open previous rides. No idea how to start a new thread on this site either, since “new conversation” requires me to send it to someone, so can only add replies to other...

    Ride Control One System Event

Magnet position checked and seems OK. Error continues, and indicator suggests Motor Issue, not sensor issue

    Ride Control One System Event

Thanks. Wasn’t aware there was a spoke magnet measuring speed! It’s all new to me

    Ride Control One System Event

Thanks for that. Did a dealer adjust it?

    Giant Embolden E+1

I’ve just had a similar “System Event” with red light flashing. The manual suggests the “Eco” light is error 5 - battery issue, as you said. Mine is motor issue 2 or sensor issue 3 (can’t repeat today to check which one). Motor cuts out until powered off and on, repeating intermittently. Still...

    Ride Control One System Event

Near the end of a 50k ride on a Liv Embolden E+1, the motor cut out, showing the red light and either motor issue or sensor issue while using auto assist on a climb. It restarted after turning power of and on , but cut out a couple of more times while finishing the ride. The following morning I...

    Problem with latest firmware update

I’m sure I’ll be using non-auto mostly too to get some excercise and save battery, but the auto will be good for difficult and strenuous sections where I don’t want to be fiddling with manual switching.

    Problem with latest firmware update

Indeed it is. I felt a bit embarrassed using it, since I felt I was getting no excercise with the bike shooting up steep slopes with hardly any pedal pressure!

    Problem with latest firmware update

Just got this update yesterday when I used the bike app. A huge difference now in Smart assist mode. Almost no need to pedal at all! I guess it will eat up the battery faster. Feels like “Sport” mode now.

    Giant Firmware Update

Seems Giant has now responded to the queries about the Smart option (Auto). Yesterday when I turned on the Ride Control app, I got the message to update the firmware. The Smart (Auto) option has changed dramatically from what felt like Eco /Eco + to something like Sport mode. The bike flies...
