2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

I've texted him - If he has his phone on roaming he'll get it, and if using a dual setup (travel eSim in his phone, like I do), he may as well. Otherwise he won't until he returns to Canada. Art is not really a big "attached to his phone" in my experiences, so he may in fact just be "running...

I have other means of contacting him. He may be in Japan again, but I thought he was active in here the last time he went. Stay tuned.

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Just got back from an extended trip (50 days) which included a trans-Pacific cruise from Vancouver to Auckland NZ. Had two rides in there, one in San Francisco and one in Napier NZ. First - SF. Photos in no particular order, And now Napier, on Hawkes Bay in New Zealand...

@Prairie Dog - looks like same brand of vehicles (in fact - perhaps exactly the same). Jeeps...They never were on my shopping list, but definitely not now.

Well I guess it's rollover season here in Alberta. Just out for a quick ride to a friends and back - maybe 10 minutes on bike. From in front of my house when I got home. White truck in background involved. I think Jeep was turning left from our alley and truck was going west from our corner...

30C here too - went for a quick ride up on my local wilderness park and visited the yearly weed control herd. Not riding too often these days as having hip issues - but things are working a bit better after a series of injections - but keeping all rides on the simple side. No e-bike = no riding...

    Giant talon E intermittent power

This video may help - it's been a couple of years since my brother and I did this to route the wiring for his dropper. It wasn't all that hard to do. It does look familiar although this is on a Syncdrive Pro. Revolution Cycles in Rossland is a Giant dealer and gets very good reviews if you're...

    Giant talon E intermittent power

It sure sounds like the sensor assembly is damaged (physically or misaligned) in some way. What part of Canada are you in - perhaps someone here can make a recommendation on a shop where you are if you can't figure it out Canadian Tire have some Torx Security bits for under $20 if you want to...

EBR made me do it! (new Vado SL 5.0 EQ)

Nice bike - I've been looking at those too as MTB types of rides not working very well for me these days - I'm mainly on pavement or packed gravel trails lately (hip issues - can't really get much power in one leg). I think I'll steal the excuse of EBR being the cause, but I'll wait 'til spring...

299.7 since knee surgery (per Strava). but I know I did at least 10 more without any electronics, so I'll claim the 300 anyways! It's nice to get out on the bike, and new part is working pretty well. I've even golfed a few times too with some limited success.

From today's 50 Km ride. No idea why this is here - Halloween is a long ways away.

When cycling, do you like listening to music?

Wear Shokz c/w Cat Ears, and unless it's windy, can hear OK. But it's only audiobooks and only when I am riding by myself and not in busy areas. I don't spend very much time on streets, just trails and pathways.

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Need to clarify - dog was in and off leash area and was curious, not menacing. I was not paying enough attention and dog avoidance resulted in minor tumble. Flat pedal pins resulted in some pretty good gouges. Many other factors included caused teh damage - I should have been able to ride...

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

I may need to go to these. I am not going to share a picture of my right calf after what should have been a minor incident yesterday with a dog in an off-leash part of the park I normally ride in. The dog owner was mortified but the damages are superficial (yet a bit bloody). Think of a...

Compressor with presta adaptor plus soapy water to help the bead set. Easy.

    Tube vs. Tubeless on ebikes

Bottles have pointed ends - designed to be used to "shoot" the sealant in with no extra stuff required (other than a valve core removal tool).

    Tube vs. Tubeless on ebikes

When I bought my e-MTB a few years ago, it came with tubes from the shop. As I used to swap summer and winter tires, I didn't want the mess. Soon after, I found a well priced used wheelset and ISPs and stopped doing tire swaps. I bought replacement tires when they were on sale last fall (same as...

Out for a casual ride as part of my continuing knee rehab (9 weeks after TKR) - came across this up on my local park Nose Hill: It was also nice to see the seasonal pond being used, it is usually gone by late June or early July:

    Knee Protection on the Trail

Helmet, eye protection and gloves always. I am a shorts kind of guy - I always say that my Mom says I am not old enough for long pants yet, and usually 3/4 sleeve shirts. Have just added better knee pads for anything resembling XC or MTB - even simple stuff. Nothing heavy duty - just...
