Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

For the guys test riding, Spec on their website has an input to find seat post length, usually associated with individual bikes and I find the output to be the same no matter the bike. My 33" inseam says from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat should be in the 31" range, I...

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

I think I'm tired of the fat tires. I ride my old style steel framed 10 spd with the skinny tires and it is so much easier to pedal. The SL tires need to be converted to the Como and Vado platform. And the Haul ST looks to be on sale.

    Storage bags on Specialized e-bike

Here's my hauler setup on the Como. The bags are Bushwacker USA. Have hauled some pretty good loads mostly from the grocery store and they are reinforced by me to handle that, from the manufacturer they are kind of delicate. The Burley cart was also reinforced by me with some aluminum plates...

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

One thing I avoid now is anything with an air shock, unless I am convinced of the durability and lack of required attention, and availability of replacement parts.

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

I ride mine all the time without assist. One of the benefits of Spec. Low assist set at 25% which works well also. I installed 36t chain ring on my vado and como and they have plenty of power, kind of like a Tero without suspension. Another bene of Spec, change the chain ring.

Hydraulic brake upgrade or calliper upgrade?

I would first change to the largest rotor you can fit and try that. You may not need to change anything. I have 200s on both my ebikes and love them. When I change to the conventional bike with 160mm rotors, there is a big difference. All hydraulic.

    No hands riding

Self steering is real nice when going downwind and you grab your windbreaker and pull it up over your head and use it as a sail!

    No hands riding

I do. Just not as stable as something with more caster.

    No hands riding

Not an ebike, and couldn't find the thread, someone was asking about riding with no hands and I was trying to explain the geometry. This pic is of a bike from the 70s. Note the front fork and the amount of distance the axle is ahead of the head stock bearings. With a setup like this you could...

    A new Vado 5.0 with Como 5.0 handlebars-an experiment

I did the same to my Vado, excepting not the Como bars, but a raised bar. Still on it from new, about 3-4 yrs. No change. I also installed the Vado bars on the Como, no change from 3-4 yrs ago. Both still happily plugging along. Como bars sitting on the shelf, too much back sweep granny...

Calipers That Will Not Adjust Straight

If you think of a grocery cart, when it is tweaked, not tweaker, and one of the front wheels carries less weight than the other front wheel, it will shimmy. That is the same principle on the bikes. If there is not enough weight on the front wheel, or the caster is not enough, it will shimmy...

Calipers That Will Not Adjust Straight

Wheel weights. Lol. You guys must go really fast. Or is that to keep you from rolling forward or backwards at the stop lights. 😁

Calipers That Will Not Adjust Straight

Okay, gotta ask. What is with the wound wire on the spokes?

Calipers That Will Not Adjust Straight

If you are hard on rotors and they warp you can get them heat treated, or maybe do it yourself. I bought some larger rotors a while back and they were prewarped. I don't know if they can make the rotors completely flat, haven't seen enough of them yet.

Calipers That Will Not Adjust Straight

If your discs build up an outer ridge where the pads don't touch, and makes it difficult to get pads on and off, get your grinder out and take it off with a bevel.

Calipers That Will Not Adjust Straight

I did an experiment one time, left the caliper loose, loctited the bolts. It worked, but for some reason I didn't like the results and scrapped the experiment. I think the caliper needed more support to keep it from canting or other.
