    Show Us a Tool

My Great grandfather's wrench set. The 5/8 - 3/4 one is a Billings and Spencer from that same time period. The oddball on the left is a Ford T-1917. It's not engraved with his initials, P M, like the others so it wasn't part of his regular tool kit.

I've been a little behind on posting henry pics - so here's a squatch dump! Hmm maybe I could have phrased that better... Three Squatch Night tiny house Squatch couple Secret door squatch Bigfoot and Graybeard. What's in the pipe Gandalf? There be dragons too (I think his name is...

    Camera damage in handlebar-mounted phones?

Jeremy, This has come up in a few recent posts. Can you share the Apple guidance against phones on bicycles? All I can find is this statement from 2023 which doesn't mention bikes or ebikes and reads like a CAA(cover Apple's A$$) recommendation as far as scooters, mopeds, etc. Thanks!

Wahoo ELEMNT Ace (on Specialized E-Bikes)

Stefan, does the Wahoo perform its own voice nav using a limited pre-loaded dictionary? Or does it generate custom spoken cues through the connection to the Wahoo app (using the phone's cpu and battery) like some other bike computers? Not a fan of voice nav myself so I was surprised on my...

How many miles a year do you ride?

I should end up a little over 5200 miles this year. Probably 90% of that commuting, very little in the way of recreational rides the last year or so. Average over the last 5.5 years looks to be about 3500/yr.

    Gravel Vs. Trail Bikes

To @Catalyzt 's point, suspension on gravel bikes is generally geared towards compliance and to help with smaller, high frequency bumps/holes. The compliance allows you to go faster and further over poor surfaces. Gravel bikes aren't rated for jumps or drops. A trail bike, and I think All...

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Canadian pedestrian didn't like me passing him on the bike path. They get weirdly possessive of the tiniest puddles this time of year.

I feel you, Dave. Glad the beer(and you) made it home safe! It has definitely been a wet and windy week.

    RideWithGPS

Given that this is a RWGPS thread, maybe some actual information regarding battery usage of the app while riding would be useful to see if it lives down to the definition of 'eating' battery. Here are 2 data points from me: 1) logged my morning commute today with RWGPS. Usual RWGPS settings...

    RideWithGPS

Sure, Komoot's new owners laid off 85% of the staff and are better known for extracting profit than investing in groundbreaking new features. They don't run stuff into the ground but paywalling features with minimal effort to sustain the product and maximum profit seems to be their m.o. Then...

    RideWithGPS

I'm not sure what your nav computer has to do with RWGPS, but you can do what you want with RWGPS and a phone on your handlebar. It can be set to display your personal routes as a visible layer on the map, then you just record a ride and try to follow the line on your own without any cues or...

2025 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Unseasonably warm here. We've had a break between storm systems the last few days and no flooding in my immediate area, so I've still been able to bike in to work. Friday evening down in Seattle. Unfortunately, I wasn't free to head to the waterfront so this was the best I could get. You can...

    henry

Guest photos: I was showing my daughter some henry photos this week, and she said that she had been meaning to show me the octopus painting outside her class door at school. Old, primitive henry? Also, henry's octopus character almost never has 8 tentacles. The quadropus seems to be the most...

    Charge Smartphone vis display

That video is from 2020. If he mentions the Nyon in the video he is talking about the original Nyon which used the same mount and cables as the Intuvia that I see in the video. It supported charging. Your Nyon is the my21 Nyon which does NOT support charging. Pretty sure that's all covered...

    Bosch engine & Garmin watch?

You do, but YMMV depending on the specific path and ecosystems involved. If you export from the eBike Connect app your only option is a GPX file which does not contain power info. The eBike Connect web portal gives an option of a TCX format which does have the power info.

    Bosch engine & Garmin watch?

BES2 with Kiox or Nyon can also be set to export to Komoot and Strava automatically from the eBike Connect app. If OP is trying to see real-time stats on the Garmin that is not possible. If you are trying to see ride stats after the fact, then you have probably 2 ways: 1) log into the eBike...
