2021 Turbo Creo SL Carbon EVO Headset Bearings

Greetings, I starting getting a pretty good creak from the headset area and also noticed the handle bars didn't turn so smooth. I let a little pressure off of the two setscrews on the headset collar which seemed to help the turing however the creaking was still there. So I pulled the headset...

Do I have my Range Extender installed correctly?

I usually have it unplugged from the battery and pull a little more slack in the cable and plug it into the bike 1st. Then pull the slack out and plug it into the battery, more of a straight shot on that plug, works for me.

    CREO SL Crank clicking

FYI, even though my pinch bolt was tight, grabing both sides of the chainring with my hands I was able to wiggle it back and forth.

    CREO SL Crank clicking

Mine was the chainring being loose on the crank spline. Tighten up the pinch bolt.

Turbo Creo SL Comp carbon EVO vs Canyon Grail:ON CF 7 (this or that?)

Yes that was what I tightened up. Mine was somewhat loose.

Turbo Creo SL Comp carbon EVO vs Canyon Grail:ON CF 7 (this or that?)

They replaced the motor on mine and the sound came back after a 100 miles or so. I finally traced it to the spline being loose on the chainring to BB connection. you could actually giggle the chain ring. I retourqed the little pinch bolt and it went away. I plan to take it off this winter...

Turbo Creo SL Comp carbon EVO vs Canyon Grail:ON CF 7 (this or that?)

Yeah primarily on the road, but can easily switch back to the gravel set when required. It's really a great bike for me, makes me feel like I'm back in my 30s and 40s again. Went out for a 25 mile ride yesterday and averaged over 23mph with 1500 ft of climbing and still had 75% left between...

Turbo Creo SL Comp carbon EVO vs Canyon Grail:ON CF 7 (this or that?)

Congrats on your new bike, nice color :) Made a few changes on mine, got rid of the dropper, new wheels with road tires 32mm I think, a 11-32 rear cassette and a range extender. If you ever start hearing a clicking noise when cranking away let me know. I have a fix.

    Creo Carbon EVO Issue

1st time, I did notice that the ring was loose but wasn’t sure if it was supposed to be or not. The shop heard the noise and replaced the motor. When I got it back the chain ring was tight but after 100miles or so the noise came back. The chain ring was maybe slightly loose but again I didn’t...

    Creo Carbon EVO Issue

No, the spider that holds the front sproket on the splined motor shaft has a pinch bolt that keeps the spider on tight (supposedly)

    Creo Carbon EVO Issue

Update: After the motor was replaced the noise was gone for about 150miles and then started again. Contacted Specialized and they told me to bring it back and their Turbo expert would work with the LBS to track down the noise. After 3 weeks of waiting I went there to ask the status and was...

    Creo Carbon EVO Issue

So PDog, were they replaced under warranty or did you have to pay for them? I wonder if they are new motors or just rebuilding the problematic ones they swapped out. In the mean time I have my Orbea Gain I'm using, really like it but it doesn't go to 27! :)

    Creo Carbon EVO Issue

The motor was replaced and it was quiet for 15 miles then came back. Contacted Specialized and they had me bring it back to the shop and the Specialized turbo expert will apparently work with them to fix it.

New motor on order. Hope it last a lot longer then the original which is under 1000miles.

    Creo Carbon EVO Issue

Well had to take it back, started my ride okay for the 1st mile and slowly became worse. After 20 miles it was just as bad as before. I could see cables making that sound over bumps and with certain vibrations but it only happens when pedaling.

    Creo Carbon EVO Issue

Well Specialized instructed them to shim the none drive side crank arm. They claim the noise went away however I haven't had a chance to test it out yet. The tech did say they had another one in with the same issue and they shimmed it out but the noise continued so they replaced the motor...

    Creo Carbon EVO Issue

When I had the bike on the stand powered up I feathered the rear brake while turning the crank, definitely could hear something in the motor area. I rebuilt my egg beater pedals because I've had them make noise in the past but that wasn't it. We will see what they say, maybe the bottom bracket...
