    Regen on EBikes

The Bionx regen, with the newer 48V 555wh battery, works very well. The 555wh battery really soaks in the regen juice compared to the older 36V versions. I do miss it when I take the other e-bike out.

Too new to be dirty, but ready for commuting.

    New Faraday Cortland

The Kickstarter Cortland S is now complete now that the accessories have finally arrived. The front rack is attractive and very usable, but does add more weight to the mix. The emphasis on style and the use of wood slabs contribute, BUT it puts more weight on the front tire, where the motor...

    New Faraday Cortland

Too wet (weather) or too sick (me) to get out, but I did have a nice 14 mile ride last weekend, that used about 225wH of the 305wH battery. Not bad for hilly Seattle. Here is how the handlebar looks with the GPS unit and Light and Motion 800 headlamp. The light that came on the Cortland is...

    New Faraday Cortland

Oh yeah, Bionx. My other two e-bikes are powered by Bionx, put together in British Columbia by Ohm. One has a newer battery style with 48V and long range. The other is the older cradle style battery for Ohm @ 36V. That one I might try to sell, but it does make for a good bad-weather commuter...

    New Faraday Cortland

I got out for 5 miles today, dropping 429 feet at the start of the ride and then making a loop around our tall hill and back home. The Garmin GPS computer is quite handy to use, and has more features than what I need it for. The backlighting option makes it very readable. I might commute on...

Blix e-bikes are attractive. I've seen them up close, but have never ridden any. Check the Blix sub-forum here. I think the important thing is to have a shop in your area that can deal with issues when they arise.

    New Faraday Cortland

I'm so sorry to hear about it. My gut feeling is that the battery is defective. $200 re-stocking fee: that's Faraday's usual way of doing it. I hope I don't have to go that route. If you have $$$$, look at Kalkhoff. The e-bike market is expanding right now, so you'll have more choices when...

    New Faraday Cortland

I hope the glitch is fixed soon. I'm bummed out with Seattle having the most rainfall in October history, over 9 inches this month. Yesterday I set out on a morning ride only to get dumped on a few blocks from home. I turned up a steep hill and was impressed how well the Cortland powered me...

Well, that's not a good thing at all! Check the wiring at the motor and look for a loose connection. Let us know how it goes.

    New Faraday Cortland

I took the new Cortland S out for its maiden voyage, and things went very well. The 10 mile or so loop starts on top of a hill and ends there, so the hill-climbing got tested at the end. For a non-suspension frame, the ride was relatively smooth. The first power level is more than enough...

    New Faraday Cortland

Again, I have no emotional attachment to this new e-bike as it sits in the garage waiting for a ride today. I'll write something about it later today. I'm sure this new Cortland will be reliable. The accessories ordered with the bike, like the rack, have not yet arrived. The dealer didn't...

    New Faraday Cortland

Okay, I picked up the Cortland S today after work and brought it home in the light rain, dry in the back of the car. The fit and finish look good. The fenders look crisp and properly aligned. The rain stopped enough for me to ride it a little, getting the seat height adjusted upward. The...

Mine is arriving soon, and after I get it I'll post some things here. I'm looking forward to riding it.

    New Faraday Cortland

On Kickstarter, Faraday announced that the Cortland will be delayed until early September. The delay is mainly due to frame issues, caused by improper welding and/or construction. Plus, or minus, the auxiliary battery is delayed until 2017. Looks like the Ohm Urban will continue to be my...

    Faraday Cortland S

I upgraded my Kickstarter pledge to also get a front rack, helmet, and other goodies. Looking forward to July (or August or ...) ;)

    Faraday Cortland S

I didn't realize until this review that the Cortland S model has a single style kickstand. For me, that's a plus. For $1000, the trade-offs between the S and the regular "classic" model are pretty small. I think the S model is a much better bike for the price.

    New Faraday Cortland

Well, the Kickstarter campaign went over the top in a few days. All the $800 off retail Cortland and Cortland S models are claimed. I also added the auxiliary battery pack to the pledge, so now my Cortland S will have almost 600wH of available juice, evenly used by the BMS. That's probably...

    New Faraday Cortland

Hey, it's a COOL looking bike. What more do you want? ;) I just paid $2k for an early-bird Kickstarter option, saving $800 or so. I ordered the Cortland S, with the steel fenders (I don't like the bamboo style), and 8-speed derailleur. The derailleur saves a couple of pounds over the...
