This is a tough one as I'm noticing now that even a little wind can make a big difference, as well as road surface, road gradient (some roads that might look flat aren't actually), but taking all that away I reckon I can cruise at 35-40km/h most of the time which feels right (minus 5km/h if you...

Yeah I think when you hear those stories of cops harassing ebikers, I think they are harassing those guys with highly modded, high power bikes that can go 80km/h on throttle hooning around like motorbikes. If you're behaving like a regular cyclist, a really fit, powerful cyclist :) you should be ok.

There is a new version of Speedbox coming out next year that will have Bluetooth connectivity to a Mobile app so should be fully programmable.

I looked at the Fastroad but it has a slightly smaller battery and had no integrated lights. I also like having the option of jumping up gutters when traffic is a car park so I can get around it, so the road bike tyres aren't so good for that. You can buy a 48T chain ring that screws straight on...

I've been riding every day for a couple of months now so am getting fitter and can sit on a cadence of about 80rpm (down to about 70rpm up hill). I'm also finding I no longer need the Sport modes, I can get by in Eco/Eco+ and use Normal just for hills or if I want to race some cars :) I don't...

Wow 60psi, what tyres? Mine are only rated to 50 and when I got to 40 they were pretty tight. I had the front wheel off and can bounce it like a ball :)

My 48T Chain ring arrived yesterday so popped in on and went for a spin. Speed readings are still accurate (comparing with GPS app on phone) Gears are now more useful, before I was pretty much only using the top 5 gears, now I go through the range more, and I don't run out of gears when...

Here's a pic, first pic is mine (apologies it's hard to see with the guard on), the second pic is a zoom in of the above bike. Look at the space between the bolt and the teeth, and then the inside space and the teeth. It's a lot smaller on mine than the others, so I reckon the stock images used...

Do different markets have different chain rings maybe? Australia has the 25km/h limit model so may have a smaller one than the US where it's 45km/h? All those pics definitely have bigger chain rings than mine as you can see the teeth extend above the size of the top of the motor, and it also...

That's a bigger chain ring than the stock one so maybe a mod?

Not sure, I assume the speed is read from the sensor on the back wheel. I'll do some GPS speed readings before and after to confirm

Although I've just ordered a new 48T chainring (42T standard isn't big enough for road riding) so this will probably come off as it won't fit with a bigger chainring. I struggled to find a big chainring and couldn't find one with a suitable sized guard so will be interesting to see how it goes...

I got mine here: https://www.speedbox-tuning.com/ Followed these instructions here: It was mostly straight forward, the motor bolts were really tight so make sure you have good tools (I actually bent my torx bit undoing them). Getting the wires out was easy but getting them back in was a pain...

Where to acquire a Giant Energypack 500 in US?

Good question. I looked at getting a second battery for my Giant too but can't find anywhere to buy one. Seems odd for a part that is designed specifically to be easily replaceable. If you find out let us know.

Hi everyone, just joined as I'm a month in on my 2019 Giant Quick E+ and wanted to share my experience. I chose the Giant because it looks the guts, and has the technical chops too. I noticed different markets seem to get different specs, the Australian one I have is 25km/h (boohoo) 42T single...
