750 watt vs 500 watt motor

Water analogies are useful when thinking about electricity. Voltage is like water pressure. Current (Amperes) is like the volume per second of water flowing through the pipe. Resistance is analogous to pipe inside diameter; higher voltage will force more current through a given amount of...

    Juiced Crosscurrent x - review rev. 3

Update: due to winter weather and a hip replacement at the start of December, I have gotten only two short rides in since the review. I do suspect that I have an incipient battery connector problem, since I had to seat the battery firmly to the right before power would come on in advance of the...

    Grin Satiator

Ordered it directly from Grin. Juiced used to sell it ( at least the 48-V dc version, but they seem to be casting about for another solution. If you read the manual carefully and configure correctly for your battery pack and level of charge, it should work great. You do need the 72-V version for...

    Alternative batteries.

The Juiced bikes, and in particular the Crosscurrent X (which I have) have proprietary form factors, connections, and mounting arrangements for their batteries, so using a generic battery would not be easy. I wouldn't recommend it. Juice’s designs are highly integrated.

Recharging during the day on tour

While merely alternating batteries probably doesn’t increase the number of recharging cycles possible, alternating in a way that drains each battery less can certainly do so.

    Grin Satiator

Grin does offer a number of adapters. I’d suggest getting the one with Anderson PowerPole connectors on it, then making a DIY PowerPole -to-whatever connector. Making one of these with alligator clips will let you charge 12-V auto batteries or small lithium packs >= 12 volts, or keep them...

    Grin Satiator

The 72-volt Satiator delivers a max charging current of 4 A; the 48-V version delivers 8 amps. 4 A charging is probably easier on your battery, though, extending the number of charge cycles. The Satiator is wonderfully programmable for voltages from 12.5 to 72, and various charge levels...
