Bad MKEPA Li-ion batteries for sale on AliExpress

Don't buy MKEPA batteries, it's junk. You can read my article here: https://avdweb.nl/solar-bike/batteries/mkepa-review

Why do the big bike brands (almost) never use hub motors?

250W e-bike mid-drive motors hardly outperforms hub motors See my article here: https://www.avdweb.nl/solar-bike/hub-motor/mid-drive-vs-hub

Question for Specialized SL 1.1 motor owners

Throttle control is still possible with Yamaha mid drive and many other brands (when you change the motor driver electronics). I updated my page here: https://www.avdweb.nl/solar-bike/hub-motor/motors-compared

Question for Specialized SL 1.1 motor owners

I would like to use the Creo Turbo for my solar-powered bike, the Maxun One, but I have my own electronics because I want to ride with motor support, with a throttle assist, but without pedaling and thus with the bottom bracket not turning. So, does the SL1.1motor has a double freewheel, so...

    250W E-bike mid-drive motors hardly outperforms 250W hub motors

I like the 2-speed concept, but the 2-speed Suzhou Xiongda Motor YTWS-01 has a weigth of 3.2kg, which is idiot.

    250W E-bike mid-drive motors hardly outperforms 250W hub motors

Hi members, thanks for your comments, in the meantime, I have eliminated some ambiguities in my article https://www.avdweb.nl/solar-bike/hub-motor/mid-drive-vs-hub This article handles about ebikes up to 250W (which are allowed in Europe without a license). This is because by nature, all small...

    250W E-bike mid-drive motors hardly outperforms 250W hub motors

The simulations are only valid for motors up to 250W. As we use in Europe for driving witout licence. This is because by nature, all small permanent magnetic motors have equal characteristics. At 1000W, I expect serious differences in performance, but I have not tested this.

    250W E-bike mid-drive motors hardly outperforms 250W hub motors

You're right. But the simulations are only valid for motors up to about 500W. This is because by nature, all small permanent magnetic motors have equal characteristics. At 1000W, I expect serious differences in performance, but I have not tested this.

    250W E-bike mid-drive motors hardly outperforms 250W hub motors

I am sure that you will get the same results when tested (with 250W motors) on a test bench

    250W E-bike mid-drive motors hardly outperforms 250W hub motors

Yes, coincidentally, I am looking to use that Turbo Creo SL from Specialized for my Maxun One solar bike.... It's the rolls royce of ebikes and the only one, I think, without that resistance.

    250W E-bike mid-drive motors hardly outperforms 250W hub motors

Hub motors with direct drive have not been tested in the article. By the way, these are outdated concepts and far too heavy

The simulations are only valid for motors up to about 500W. This is because by nature, all small permanent magnetic motors have equal characteristics. 250W E-bike mid-drive motors hardly outperforms 250W hub motors

I wrote an article where you can read that a mid-drive motor hardly outperforms a hub motor. https://www.avdweb.nl/solar-bike/hub-motor/mid-drive-vs-hub In practice there is no significant difference in performance. You can clearly experience this yourself during test drives with both kind of...

Ebike Motor Power Curve Comparison Chart: BOSCH, Yamaha, Shimano, Brose

I have made the motor Graphs of the Bosch Active line 3, see here: Bosch Active Line 3 mid-drive motor tear down Normally, the duty cycle of a PWM motor control is 0% for 0V and 100% for 36V. However, at the Bosch Active Line 3, the maximum duty cycle is 19V/36V = 53%. We can also say that the...

Ebike Motor Power Curve Comparison Chart: BOSCH, Yamaha, Shimano, Brose

The Power vs Revolutions curve is not a useful motor power curve , such a motor curve does not exist. It is only a matter of software control. To compare motors, a graph of efficiency vs torque is required. See here for more: http://www.avdweb.nl/solar-bike/hub-motor/hub-motor-simulation
