Thanks guys. I went the with the Magnum Peak after I test rode it. Seemed perfect for me. Minor quibbles - no lights built in, or a rack, seat it came with wasn't great but it handles some of the crappy roads and it gets to 25-28 in no time. Thanks again!

any particular models you might suggest around the 2k range?

That does look interesting but my concern would be the same as my previous bike. If something goes wrong will I get decent support. That's why I'm tempted to go with Stromer. Just want something reliable that isn't going to start giving me complications a few weeks in.
