Thanks Saratoga Dave, a 48 is fine but I would be a lot more comfortable on longer descents being able to pedal under 95rpm. My commute goes over Sepulveda pass in LA so that's 5+ mins of downhill everyday where I usually have to either coast or pedal faster than I want to. First world problems...

Edit: I didn't read your post properly; Would a different double chainset push the chainline out? It already has a double on there, I just don't use the inner chainring. I'd need at least 5mm to clear the chain stay for a few more teeth, how would this affect the rear shifting? Thanks for your...

Is there a bike that lasts after extended use?

12000 mile update for anyone who's interested. I've beat the c&%p out of it too and it's help up very well, only had to replace the usual consumables (chains/tyres/ brake pads etc). haven't needed to test the warranty. https://electricbikereview.com/forum/threads/quick-e.8648/post-221405

12,000 Mile Review For those interested in the long term viability and cost of a bike like this, I thought I'd add in my experience with my 2017 Quick-E. I've had it a little over two years and its main use is a commute between 6 and 20 miles each way M-F, and a grocery getter/kid hauler the...

Why no discussions about clipless pedals on ebikes

I've been using clipless pedals for a while now, kind of as a default choice coming from a road biking background. Most of my bike riding is a long commute and I certainly value the extra efficiency that comes from being clipped in - this has got me wondering about dual sided pedals as on the...

@Christopher Castillo yes it was a cooler day today, the first in a while, and the bike as noticeably livelier. Re. the tires, they do ride faster than the stock items and seem to wear very well. They have less 'squidge' which is either good (more direct feel, faster handling) or not good (Less...

Yes - It only has on or off, no low beam but you can switch between by using the usual button.

Is there a bike that lasts after extended use?

Happy to give my input as i've used mine quite a lot, but over a relatively short period of time on my Giant Quick-E 2017 how long owned 6 months how many miles / kilometers 4-5k miles what motor / battery issues? kept by warranty? Generally very reliable and a 2yr warranty. Thermal cutout...

I thought i'd add in some updates now that I've installed a new light and the nights are closing in fast. I had originally bought an AXA light from Germany and they sent the wrong one. As i'm a little impatient I looked what I could get quickly from Amazon and came up with the Supernova E3 V6...

I like it. Overall very happy The Closure it a little odd with just the one clip in the middle and i'm not sure how waterproof it is. Thankfully thats not a problem as it doesn't rain here in LA but would have been a consideration if I was back home in London.

You just drop it in, it's actually really easy and I have it set up so there's plenty of heel clearance

@BernieS The pannier I have has a lower attachment point that sits behind one of the vertical stays and keeps it in place. While it's a Brooks pannier, it has this system from Ortlieb.

Future of ebike, will it evolve more?

@Timpo this type of bike would really suit me and I look forward to seeing how it develops. Do you have one? I’d love to hear some feedback if so. I’m not sure I understand your comment? Are you suggesting this bike is evidence that no more development is needed? I hope not as I can’t wait to...

Road bikes with lightweight electric systems

@Timpo You bring up an interesting point and I’d be interested to see how many roadies would convert for the speed alone. For me personally, I ride my bike every day because I love it. I ride my road as much as I can because it’s damn fun. I’d ride it every day if I didn’t get so tired (200...

Future of ebike, will it evolve more?

I think the automotive world will drive battery development forward and we should see the benefits in ebikes, maybe not anytime soon as I read manufacturers can’t make the latest tech fast enough to meet the auto demand. I hope it doesn’t take too long My personal hope is the development of...

Road bikes with lightweight electric systems

This is a really interesting topic to me as coming from a road bike background, I’m really missing the agile, Lightweight feel that I can’t replicate on my e-bike. My personal needs are utility as the primary purpose of my bike is to replace a car for our family (the wife now takes our one...

Hi @Catty Wampy i hear your frustrations, they seem to be shared by a few here. I can’t speak for giant and I have no inside knowledge I’m afraid. Personally I really like what they did, the panniers I have work well and are on the ortleib standard so I’m sure most will work (see my pics up...
