I haven't. I am thinking I'm going to open up the wheel before I buy anything and just take a peek at the insides. I need a new multimeter, so I should probably grab one of those and try to diagnose it. Any guides or youtube videos on what I should do, that you would recommend?

If I were to replace the hub motor, would this make a good replacement? It seems like as good a time as any to learn how to lace up a wheel. :)...

I hung the bike from the ceiling. I turned on the display and spun the wheel while turning the throttle, it would power for a few seconds and stop. Does that help with a possible diagnosis?

i tried pressing and holding the - button, nothing happened. :( If I were to take apart the hub motor, do you think there would be anything that would immediately scream : THIS IS WHAT IS WRONG ?

Thanks, yeah, I didn't see much information about it, either, I guess I figured they were all basically different shades of the same thing, but that seems to not really be the case. I did made sure that the display is compatible with the controller I got.

I'd really rather not invest much more into it. It was basically just a project for me. I don't really need it, although it would be a fun rig to ride to work. Is there anything I should be looking at in the motor that could possibly repaired?

Yeah, I assume it has to be a clutch slipping. No sure if it’s the pawls or the ring that they are supposed to catch on.

Just took it apart, hosed down the clutch pawls and the ring it’s supposed to catch in with WD40 and cleaned the grease out. I put it back together, same problem. I tried contacting a bike shop reccomended above, no contact back. hmm.

Yes it slips when the power is off AND on. Obviously when the power is on, the motor will drive the bike, but the cranks still slip if you pedal hard. I'll give what you're saying a shot.

Haven't heard anything back from Raleigh.

I've got the motor out. Not a major feat, just needed the correct tools. I'm trying to get inside it, to see if there is something obviously broken, but it doesn't seem like the case wants to come apart very easily. I've taken out the fasteners that seem obvious, but I'm not sure what I need...

Emailed Raleigh. We’ll see what happens there. Ordered the tools to remove the BB and the crank arm.

Any reccomendations for a Raleigh dealer? I doubt I have anybody local to me that stocks the ebikes.

Thanks for the reply. It's definitely not the chain slipping, there is no noise like a chain skipping on the sprocket. I even went out and double checked this morning. the slippage is definitely happening inside. I started a "build thread" here with more information. This is a low buck...
