Thanks. No, I'm not using the alarm. I think it does require the connect module but I quit reading when I saw that it requires a subscription. Bike theft isn't a huge problem in my mid-sized city (famous last words, I know). Anyway, most of the time I can either park the bike in my office or...
Thanks. I hadn't thought about leaving the 2nd key in the garage where I can get to it easily. I had thought about carrying it with me but I've always been of the mind that the 2nd key is sacrosanct and should be stored away in a secret location that I can hopefully remember if I ever need it.
I've had my Arroyo C5 HMB over a week now and I thought I would post my initial impressions. To cut to the chase, I like it a lot - in my mind, it's well worth the US$4k I shelled out for it. I was looking for a low maintenance bike (belt drive, internal gears - and, therefore, mid-drive)...
Thanks for the links. After watching videos you refer to, I find it hard to see why an LBS sees this as something they can't handle. In fact, I might be able to do it myself. And the bleed kit doesn't look so "hard to find."
I have an Agattu B8 with hydraulic rim brakes. It's 5 years old; the brakes need bleeding once a year. Last year the big bike shop in town told me the brakes are obsolete and they can't service them any more. This year I took it to a small bike shop where they assured me they could do the job...
Thanks. Now let me ask a hypothetical question. Let's say I rode home from the bike shop without noticing any problem. Hypothetically speaking, I'd feel foolish for riding 7 miles without noticing that the controller wasn't recording speed or distance. Would I have the error code and be stuck in...
I had a rear wheel rim replaced on my Bosch system ebike. The technician forgot to put the magnet back on the wheel. It will be several days before I can get the magnet. Will it cause any problems (other than unrecorded mileage) if I ride without the magnet? Details that I assume are irrelevant...
I now have 5300+ miles over three years on my Agattu B8 with no problems. But I have a Bosch drive train. Impulse has a bad reputation and I don't think Kalkhoff uses it any more. But Kalkhoff also doesn't market in the U.S. any more so I probably won't buy Kalkhoff again, either.
"A lot of buyers interested in ebikes don't seem to be avid cyclists..." That's me, although I was commuting on my old mountain bike for several years before buying an ebike. The only problems I ever had were with my derailleur and rear sprocket. I bought a mid-drive ebike (Bosch performance...
I set mine a minute or two fast then let it go until it's a couple of minutes slow. I haven't watched it closely but I'd say it loses three or four minutes every couple of months.
It's encouraging to see people getting so many miles on their ebikes. I've done 650 miles on my Kalkhoff Agattu B8 that I've had for six weeks. Mostly commuting and running errands. Well, really they're pleasure trips. Going to work and running errands just give me an excuse to ride.
Thanks for the replies. I've managed to raise the handlebars a small amount; hopefully it will be enough. There's still some slack in the cables so if I have to go higher I'll know how to do it.
Can I change the height of the handlebars on my Agattu B8? I know I can swivel them but I'd like to raise them vertically a couple of inches. The dealer told me it can't be raised but he was wrong about some other things.
Please post a link for poison darts. I lock the frame to the rack with a tigrlock mini+, tie the quick-release front wheel to the frame with an ottolock, and the back wheel to the frame with a light Abus chain. I have a u-lock on order (Abus Granit x+ 540); I'll add that to the tigrlock. The...
