    Broken clamp on Stromer display

No problem. Here's another thread to follow. This guy is working through the same problem and knows a lot more than I do http://secondnaturecycling.com/2014/10/11/stromer-troubleshooting-and-diagnosis-part-1/ Doug.

    Broken clamp on Stromer display

Hi jrw293, yes I've had a couple of issues with an intermittent NO_COM. For me, the failure was always due to a loose connection on one of the threaded connectors near the display. I have cleaned and taped them and they haven't given me any trouble in a while. There is also a connector behind...

    Broken clamp on Stromer display

Thanks again Joe, I had no idea! I'll make one up. Doug

    Broken clamp on Stromer display

Good suggestion, thanks Streumer. It probably wouldn't hurt to cover the repair with a Bondic seal... and yeah, the lack of a removable display (let alone integrated into the frame like your ST2) is one of my few frustrations with the bike, considering that Bosch, Bionx and others included them...

    Broken clamp on Stromer display

Thanks very much for the input guys. A glue job by the previous owner failed, so I figured it was a lost cause, but the Loctite seems pretty solid. I'll see how well it holds up when riding season starts. Thanks Streumer for the Bondic tip. The stuff had mixed reviews on Amazon, but I'll...

    Broken clamp on Stromer display

Hi, I've got a 2012 Stromer Sport and the clamp for the display has broken. I'd hate to replace the display, but the design doesn't allow me to just replace the clamp and I haven't been able to glue it. Has anyone else dealt with this, or have any suggestions that would better than just taping...

    2012 Stromer Elite update

Thanks for the input Joe! That's probably a good idea to leave it factory spec and the chain/freewheel both checked out ok by my mechanic, so I assume that they were replaced by the previous owner. I'll post some pics of the broken clamp on the display under a separate thread. Doug.

    2012 Stromer Elite update

Thanks for your update. It is encouraging to read that I'm not the only one who has had a fairly problem free ride with the 2012 Elite. I bought one this spring with 3000 miles on it (apparently without any electric related problems for the original owner) and have since put another two thousand...

    Smart Ebikes production discontinued

Disappointing news! It looks like Mercedes has halted production on the Smart Ebike. http://blog.mercedes-benz-passion.com/2015/10/smart-ebike-produktion-nach-3-jahren-ausgelaufen/ I picked up a demo model on clearance a few weeks ago, and have been very impressed with the build quality and...

Any folks here from the Ottawa/Gatineau area in Canada?

I'm in Toronto and never had any issues, although I always slow down on crowded bike paths and when approaching police. Ottawa laws seem pretty standard as long as you don't have a scooter type: http://ottawa.ca

Mounting LoudBicycle.com Car Horn on ST2

Fair enough, Rick. I just had visions of someone riding down a bike path with their hand on the horn like they're driving a Hummer and that person obviously isn't you. Get whatever you need to make your ride safer and enjoy your riding!

Mounting LoudBicycle.com Car Horn on ST2

At the risk of opening a can of worms, I'm a little worried about this post. I love the freedom that pedelecs have (so far) to ride roads, bike paths etc without requiring a license. When I'm riding my Stromer sport through traffic and pedestrian areas, I drop into Eco mode and give others space...

Out looks like Stromer has been sold to Scott Sports SA. http://www.bike-eu.com/home/nieuws/2015/7/bmc-refocuses-with-divestment-of-stromer-and-bergamont-10124265

Surface 604 brakes... how are yours?

I asked Surface 604 upgrade options, and was told that while shifter/derailleur options are limited, they would be posting Tektro hydraulic brakes as an upgrade option next month. No price was mentioned though.

Surface 604 brakes... how are yours?

After about 300 kilometers (185 miles), my primary concern with the brakes has been the noise, not the performance. Bottom line: I think it depends on the kind of riding that you do... the brakes are more than adequate for my touring and light trail riding up to 25 kph or so, but if I was doing...

    Good bike, great service

+1 on the plan to eliminate the Tourney stuff... Please let us know how much it improves your ride. Ok, I've just returned from a 35k ride and I guess confirmed the obvious: that cutting back to level 1 SIGNIFICANTLY increases the battery range. With this in mind, I've cut back to the lower...

    Good bike, great service

Thanks Chuck, its great to have someone to compare experience with. I'm hoping the difference in battery distance relates mostly to the cold temperature here. I never cruise using throttle only, but find it great when starting from a dead stop and as a bit of a boost when going up the rolling...

    Good bike, great service

Thanks for the drivetrain tip! I've ordered the 39 tooth, but it will a couple of weeks before it comes in. I'll be sure to post my experience with it. I received the bike a few weeks ago, and all my riding has been at temperatures close to freezing. I expect that my mileage will increase when...

    Good bike, great service

I live in Toronto, and wanted a bike that could be ridden year round. After about a hundred miles, I can say that the bike has performed as advertised. Low level is pretty much useless, but I've averaged 30 kilometres (20 miles) on a single charge using level two, which provides an easy 26...
