It has been sold. Sorry to disappoint. It was a nice bike but a bit to heavy for me (given my back condition).

Want to buy a slightly used Tinker N380 (Portland, Oregon)? I've realized, unfortunately, that it is not the bike for me.

Problem fixed! eMTB installed. Reason for the difficulty is unknown. Bottom line is that I like it!

Simplistically that makes sense, but I think it is not the answer. First, many people have told me that as the belt breaks in the vibration will diminish (without requiring a change in tension). Second, I had the tension of the belt only bike reduced (still within recommended range) with no...

Only under foot power... most evident at higher revs and force... without motor. It is present even if the motor is off. (I need the exercise.)

I will be VERY interested to hear of the result of your replacing the dropout system!

Unfortunately, no. Tension has been confirmed as being correct. Lowering tension slightly (still within correct range) had no effect on thrumming. Pedalling with the motor off (for exercise) still exhibits thrumming. I've only approximately 200miles on the bike (as I've been travelling a bit)...

unfortunately, my dealer ran into a problem when he attempted to do this. The update procedures worked for his other Bosch CX bikes (proving that he knows what he is doing and that his computer hardware and software works); On my tinker, the update didn't "take". He's contacting Bosch and R&M to...

I've told my dealer/mechanic that he should consider the Tinker as being a mini mountain bike for a mini senior citizen.

I have the CX version (with N380 belt drive). Thanks! One of the reason I purchased this version was because of the relatively high torque low velocity... and the belt drive. For city riding, I find that 20MPH is quite fast enough.

Thank you! Not as simple as I had thought, with respect to the dongle requirement as none of the other bikes he has sold are CX models. I will pursue further...

My dealer, not being a vender of mountain bikes, has no experience with updating Tinker software to eMTB; how difficult is the process?

For what its worth, my assessment of the belt drive tinker: I received mine just before I went on a 6 week vacation (Asia) and thus have not had an opportunity to ride it as much as I would have otherwise expected. I like it, but its not perfect. Brakes (hydraulic) are easy to modulate and...

Thanks! Makes sense. I'm travelling out of country and will try this and report back when I get back in October.

I've not experienced that on my non-electric Tern 20" wheel chain: dérailleur folding bike.

With respect to using the N380 and Gates belt drive system combination (new Tinker), I've noticed an annoying vibration/thrumming feeling suggestive of excess friction, usually at higher pedaling rates. Wondering: does this disappear as the system "breaks in"?

FWIW: But... with further attention paid during additional rides: 1. there does seem to be more friction associated with the belt drive-and-N380(evident as a vibration or "thrum" when pedaling at a cadence of about 70-80 with moderate force. I hope this diminishes as belt and hub "break in"...

FWIW: Took my first ride on the Tinker: I like it! Brakes are smooth and progressive. Motor is powerful. Delay before power comes on is quite small (less than 1/2 pedal rotation). Bike is stable at speed (20mph). Hills "disappear"; It was fun rolling past much younger guys wearing spandex on...

It looks like I'll be able to pick up my tinker (N380 internal hub model) tomorrow. I intend to contribute my "fair share" of feedback here as I have greatly appreciated the information offered by others. One site post suggested that the eMTB update is not reversible. Thus, I intend to use the...
