Most ebikers are retired or near retiring age where age has taken a tool on muscle strenght and endurance.

In those cases, choosing a premium brand with the latest and most sophisticated technology is not always benificial, but can even be less helpful (such as the lack of throttle).

    Comfortable handlebar options.

Since many ebikes have aggressive riding position, I thought the owners may be interested about these options. http://www.bikepacking.com/gear/list-of-comfort-mtb-handlebars/?fbclid=IwAR0HdwKmwJ2Nh7cJ3yCPVsSm23TOBKrvvHw03UM8WV6NlSgViMkPzVOMzj8

Mid drive, internal gear reduction ratio and gear type.

Some may find this to be too technical but there are also few others who want to ponder on the inner workings of the gear reduction mechanism and the gear ratio. I know the BBSHD has 2 stage gear reduction using pinions and gears and has a gear ratio of 21.9:1. The Brose uses planetary gear in...

Going against the trend and changing my 9 speed from a wide ratio mtb cassette to a close ratio road bike cassette. (11-36 to 13-25)

I know people here wants the widest range possible so they can conquer the steepest hills and also pedal on the down hill at 30 mph. After more than 2000 miles on my full suspension Giant Stance2 with BBSHD and 48 teeth chain ring, I haven't really used the top end except when going down hill...

E-unicycles are getting more popular now. What's your opinion on it?

I guess it makes you do core strengthening exercise to keep yourself balanced and also muscle toning on both the midsection and lower body. Probably a viable option to alternate with cycling exercise.

Hub drive vs mid drive, round 2.

I know, I know, people would quickly point out that mid drives has the advantage on steep inclines. And that is true, mid drives can take advantage of the gearing and can comfortably tackle more than 15% inclines. You would often see those steep inclines on off road single tracks, riding in the...

How much of your overall exercise is by riding an ebike? What other exercise do you alternate?

If the weather permits, I almost exclusively do ebike exercise only. Otherwise, I would be using my stationary exercise bike with all the fancy metrics or my stationary row machine.

Is anybody using eco mode (lowest assist level) on your usual bike ride? What is your usual assist level?

The answers can vary since different ebikes have different levels of assists from 3 to 6 assist levels. Some even have 9 assist levels like the Bafang. What is your cruising speed?

    Anybody tried the Stealth P-7?

I thought this expensive ebike is now within the same price range as the newer premium quality ebikes at $ 5,500 with high capacity battery to boot.

You can click the button/buttons that apply to you. Key word here is "primary", 90% of the time. Thanks.

Westchester ebike club, post your ebike as your stamp of self invitation and membership.

I thought I would start a club for people who has access to the New York Wetschester County Trailway and Putnam Trailway. In the future, we can have a meet up or make regular scheduled rides. Hey, the more the merrier. http://www.nycbikemaps.com/maps/north-and-south-county-trailways-bike-map/

Flat pedals to clipless pedals and then back to flat pedals.

I shifted to clipless pedals for 2 years after getting fascinated with the idea that I can also power at the up stroke. It was an illusion that I can suddenly go faster with the clipless. I had a couple of hard falls and using clipless was not really confidence inspiring. The flat pedals are...

    Human powered race.

Interesting and nice drone footage too. Just As expected, the lightest recumbents with aerodynamic fairings would win at the fastest division. I don't understand the reasoning behind the use of upright trikes, it's the least aerodynamic aside from the added weight of the third wheel.

A maintenance free ebike design could be in the horizon.

A new design is on the horizon that has integrated motor-transmission at the bottom bracket that could be configured to be maintenance free. https://www.emtb-news.de/news/en/mubea-konzept-e-bike/ We have seen the pinion bottom bracket transmission that offers a sturdy and very low...

Simple trick that helps in preventing butt pain on long rides.

I learned something new today. I just found out that periodically standing on the pedal greatly enhances riding comfort and prevent butt sore caused by prolonged pressure on the seat. I consciously made an effort today to stand on the pedal (6 o"clock position) and shift my weight to the...
