Are you being cheated at the pump?

I worked a convenience store 20 odd years back & made a disturbing discovery about the gas pumps. The pumps at the store would read $5 if you paid $5, but the reality was that you only received $4.93. Okay, that wasn´t really to awful on $5, but multiply it by 52 weekly fillups & it adds up to a...

Why I just replaced rear disc with calipers.

It was an involuntary decision which began with a broken spoke. To replace the spoke, one 1st has remove the disc. To do that needs removal of several screws wtth stripped heads or threads. The stripped round heads had to be cut away to remove disc. This done, I was left with no options but...

How many gears do you really need & use?

My experience is that a 6 or 7 spd freewheel will last twice as long as a 8,9,10 speed cassette, requires less frequent adjustment, & are generally cheaper & readily available. I have yet to break a freewheel, but cannot say the same for cassettes.

Why there is no news channel that only airs good news.

It would seem that there´s more money to be made with bad news. People aren´t concerned about good news; they need something to worry about. The Media is more than glad to oblige, & sponsors just hop on board as we are subjected to endless distress. This is a self-perpetuating dilemna that often...

    A moscow at 3000+ miles:

In my life I´ve had 20+ bikes & tinkered with ´em considerable. Some of them wound up euthanized after being stripped fur parts. I have not been especially kind to my moscow, but as my respect for this bike grows I´m taking much better care of it. I have had flats & popped a cpl. spokes in a...

That appeared in a Bing headline today. Apparently Japan has taken a serious stand on climate change....or are they getting nervous about declining sales? Ya think other countries will follow suit?

    Rad mission, anyone?

I just took a peek at Court´s review. While Iḿ riding something else, I like where itś going with the engineering. Simplicity in the right places. Okay, it´s really basic, but for a first bike, something you can aftermarket personalize, this is a very functional & durable looking bike fur cheap...

Recent bike laws in washington state.:

As of tomorrow, Oct.1, 2020-WA SB-6434, bikes may regard stop signs at yield signs with the exception of school bus signs & railroad crossings, however riders are expected to slow & exercise reasonable caution. Orygun has had a similar ´rolling stop´ law for a number of years now. Also as of...

    Stayin' Alive

I had a near death experience yesterday. This isn't actually that unusual for me...were I a cat, I'd a bin dead long ago. I think the real thrill of cycling being like a fawn pursued by a pack of wolves. Ya gotta be an adrenalin junkie to ride in any kind of traffic. Gawd I love cycling. Nothin'...

    Homeless in Aspen

I had quit a carpenter job at the end of july to go prospecting on the south shoulder of Mt. Elbert. but abandoned my camp at timberline after 3 nights of violent thunderstorms resembling artillery barrages, Some strikes were so close that they literally made my hair stand on end. So, I packed...

Can someone tell me: Is it possible to use a bottle type generator to feed charge the battery via a USB port? Say like on a long alpine dissent?

I realize this would be totally counter-productive while using the motor, but what about coasting or pedaling without power? Is there a way to charge your bike by pedaling it?🤔 Can't believe I spelled descent like that, but I can't fix it.

Howse your battery holding up, miles, etc.?

My 21 ah from juiced has 6000+ mi. No appreciable power loss, still like new, but I seldom let the volts go below 50. That's a 10 -12 mi. ride P.S. I should add full charge with the 2 amp charger is 53.9; it's 54.3 with my 3 amp charger. I've been riding on average 6 days a week for just under...

    On the road again....

Well it's that time of year when cabin fever conquers common sense & I brace myself to face junk food & road rage. Time to put the bike on the rack of my disreputable, rusting 33 year old van & take it for a ride. I water the small weed growing out below the windshield wiper & load every...

    Multiple Batteries?

I've got 2 batteries, an 8ah & a 21ah. I can probably get 50+mi. from the 21ah, but who rides that far in one go? It takes the 21ah about 5 hrs. to charge from a 20mi. ride. My grocery run is just 2 mi. While the bike gobbles volts on the 8ah, it completely recharges in a 1/2 hr after a grub...

How much has your ebike replaced your car?

I did drive one day in July, 60 mi. round trip supply run. Guess that's not 100% independence, but not bad.
