    Why do you like gravel?

True. Nay, you are an e-MTBer :) You ride in rough terrain (rocks!) that decidedly requires the full suspension and fat tyres (like 2.6"). You climb a lot on "bridleways" that are rather technical singletracks. You gain a lot of elevation but the distances you ride are nothing compared to a...

    Why do you like gravel?

I shouldn't have mentioned Road Cycling at all, my bad. I do apologise.

    Why do you like gravel?

As one Artur Schopenhauer wrote a long time ago in his Eristic, a personal attack is admitting the disputant is out of arguments. So please tell me Stomp what your competence in the field of gravel cycling is. Well, if you say you are Captain Quint then I have nothing to say more, either...

Unexpected BRIDGEs Ride As I saw the Ed's post mentioning the deer, I recollected what I could see on last night's BRIDGEs gravel ride in Warsaw. Herds of big wild boars crossed our path twice! Fortunately, those beasts knew how to behave and vacated the trail just before we got there! Wild...

    Why do you like gravel?

Why don't you ride it to this day?

    Why do you like gravel?

Whatever you name a road cycling group, it is a group/peloton. In gravel cycling, it is how I wrote. It might be different in the U.S. with its wide gravel roads but certainly not in my country, where premium gravel is a rarity. My bad. I am ignorant in road cycling matters. @stompandgo: So...

    Why do you like gravel?

The drop bar allows for faster rides. The drivetrain is a crossover between Road and MTB. A gravel bike is usually lightweight, which allows carrying it over obstacles found on the trail. Interestingly, Pinarello makes its road e-bike with 2x chainring while it is 1x for the gravel version.

    Why do you like gravel?

Why do they buy "gravel bikes" if they could just ride some old Raleigh like Ras did in his youth? FYI, just setting off for a night gravel ride in Warsaw to demonstrate a new acquisition to our community what we do group ride on Mondays :) I'm afraid she would be too fast for me! It is 7 C.

    Why do you like gravel?

P.S. All I said about the road rides was the riders were riding in the group (peloton) for the aero advantage. Which is not the norm in gravel cycling, where a group is only formed on coffee rides or by strong riders on a race.

    Why do you like gravel?

I have been a member of the gravel cycling community since 2022, have nine gravel races/rallies* behind my belt as well as numerous group rides, part of which I organised myself. I'm ignorant in road rides/racing. Are you a member of any gravel cycling community to present your expertise in...

    Why do you like gravel?

That was harsh Jeremy. "Gravel cycling" is a sports discipline, like it or not. It was not there before. The Canadian guy does not participate in the sport. He, however, rides a gravel bike. What a surprise.

2026 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Many people buy a racing bike while they actually need an All-Road one. I can remember a man from one of the cycling channels who was cursing himself for buying a "Tadej Pogacar's Colnago" while what he really loved to ride was an All-Road bike at the half of the price :) Besides, all major...

    Why do you like gravel?

A comment to anyone saying "gravel was ridden well before the sport was even invented": It was not a discipline. Anyone could ride a regular bicycle on surfaces that were available at those times. It was not making it a distinct sport or distinct bikes or specific ethos. The same: anyone could...

No need to pretend. Just save your marks :) Road. Gravel. (Gravel cyclists hate flashy bikes, so the logo is subdued here). Both with TQ HPR 50.

    Why do you like gravel?

"I was a gravel cyclist not even before the sport was invented but also before asphalt was a thing" /Bernard Newman -- a British intelligence agent and author -- "Pedalling Poland (1934)" and many other books/

    Why do you like gravel?

A huge country indeed! You are also a way closer to Europe by flight hours than, say, Sydney :)

    Why do you like gravel?

Only 7th worldwide overall 😊 Australia may have the longest gravel roads though. This year's UCI World Gravel Championships were held in Australia.

Elektroza Rembridge Rembridge is a witty name, which some inhabitants of Warsaw-Rembertów use to name their location :) As I wanted to attract our friend e-biker Anna to her last ride this year, I had planned an asphalt/bike path only route around the forest complex in the neighbourhood. We...
