Not sure how ferry ride is, Rab, but this idea has always intrigued me. Having said that, I probably wouldn’t use one of these on open water. Still, these “shuttle bike” kits can be carried in a backpack and they look like fun!

The tech wars continue… The Gobao is interesting because you can use it with a “shifter” if you want to. I don’t know if any of the competition offer that. Having the ability to shift (even if it’s not gears)n would potentially make it palatable to a guy like me. CVTs in cars nauseate me...

From my turn-around point on my usual 20mi round-tripper. My friend, Matt, joined me with his crazy-light Specialized analog road bike, proving yet again that riding the rail trail around here can be done on skinny tires. But, yeah, I didn’t drag him to any of the single tracks I often take. :)

I’d have a look at Aventon Current. No personal experience, but I’ve been very impressed with Aventon’s tech as of late.

I did this on the stock brakes and the piston popped right out of the cylinder. My brake bleed kit came with a plastic piece to put in the slot where the rotor goes if you’re bleeding without the rotor, so I kind of learned the hard way. :) I’m not sure what you’re describing about the lever...

In winter, if it’s cold, I wear a watch cap or balaclava under the helmet. In summer, I wear a cotton cycling cap which (as Stefan mentioned) is really just for sweat.

Yeah, definitely don’t ride it for real until those bearings sit properly and snugly in the tube. I don’t know exactly what you’re dealing with, but you probably need a new race at the bottom of the tube to make the thing fit properly. Or, maybe there’s some kind of steerer tube sleeve that...

@olbriar that’s outstanding. I had to do the same thing, albeit for very different reasons and at very much lower mileage because Juiced closed down with my rear assembly in for repair! You may have the high-mileage award for an RCS. I’m pushing 4K, myself. Love the bike, but I’ve swapped...

By the way, if you do bleed off the air, you’ll need a fork pump to put it back. It’s no big deal, but you won’t be able to get the right pressure with a standard bike tire pump.

Can you do this, @Haibike_biker ? You shouldn’t be dealing with the rebound adjuster coming off the fork tube like that. Yes, absolutely right that it should not be hanging unthreaded like that.
