In a pinch... You can always just plug an EV intp a 120v outlet. Those are everywhere. :)

I used to think PHEVs were the answer to transition until I owned one. Instead of the best of both worlds, it was the worst. ICE maintenence, issues with electric to ICE systems and low EV range/slow charging and not much cheaper than EVs make it a loser in my eyes. Hybrid is ok but it still...

I’ll rec on the other side of the spectrum, get a budget folding step-through like the Ride1Up Portola.

The Citi bike experience - New York edition

We rented Citibikes on a recent NY excursion. Haven't been in probaby over 10-15 years. I'm not sure if that dedicated path next to the Hudson was there before but it was great to ride it.

Actually low Ioniq 5 leases are how I got into one... and I prefer leasing because I'm fickle and know I'll want something else within 2 years. I'm already thinking about my next EV. :)

    Electric Car thread

Some legacy automakers like Ford and GM are cutting back on EV production/projects while others like Hyundai/Kia and Volvo are increasing efforts. I do think we need to see more budget EVs to drive adoption but at the same time, the market for lower priced EVs may not have the available...

I think propane is more efficient, a bit cleaner and more available as a transportable fuel.

So went to REI for service and...

My local REI will service any ebike for normal mechanical issues that are not motor related. I joined their membership because rates were cheap and they would fix flats for just material costs. That changed recently. They now charge for flat fixes on rear hub motor tires. The last one I did...

    Winter Sucks

Lucky to be in SoCal. Afternoon rides need to start earlier but we can do some night riding with lights. Morning rides can start later as it won't get so hot. And "It never rains in Southern California..." (sing it with me) so we can almost ride 365 days a year.

Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

I have a rear hub motor with a torque sensor and on flats it's okay but uphill less zippy. It's also a smaller motor so that may be another consideration.

    Being Thankful

I saw an ebike like this on a Newport Beach trail yesterday and I always wonder who converts these bikes. It was a rear hub so not sure if it was PedalUma but the job looked pretty clean. I am thankful for the ebike technology that allows me to ride often and farther.

Stuff you find on the road.

I saw an iPhone when I was riding with my buddies down a decline... was going pretty fast so I didn't stop. We get about halfway to our turnaround and one of the guys says "I think I lost my phone!". Just me an him rode back since I knew the area where I saw it and we see it is still there and...

Does anyone suffer from battery range anxiety like people do with electric vehicles?

Anxiety not as high on an ebike as an EV, you can't pedal an EV. :) Most of my rides are 20-30mi range and I thought the smaller battery of the Soltera.2 would be an issue but I rarely go below 50% (which is better than on my Espin) so not too worried. And... we have the OG Soltera and the...

    Soltera.2

You can get a suspension handlebar stem, but they are pricey... the Redshift one everyone recommends is around $200. I found a cheaper one for $80 on Amazon but I need to find a less than $30 one. :)

@SleepyAlgae Did you make the chair out of the box? I found out about it after I threw some away. Also installed a $20 suspension seat post and it helps absorb the bumps.

    Sport model by Espin discontinued

Been a while since I've posted in this thread. Sounds like my Sport's bottom bracket is creaking and I don't know if that can be fixed because I think it's sealed. Other than that... still going strong. I'm spoiled by the advanced cadence sensor because after these few years I really had the...
