I bought the Rhinowalk 25L pannier(s) from Amazon and the battery fits fine in it. It is a very good quality waterproof bag that also comes in a 20L size but the battery is too tall for the smaller bag. There is lots of room in the 25L bag to put protection in for the battery.

Looks good, I think I would double up the wood in the center where the flange is screwed/bolted down. I would also use my hole saws and make a plastic spacer to put on top of the union/coupling to protect the bike.

I'm riding my bike with a 34t and I love how it helps get up the hills even when the battery has been drained. Most of my riding is in the middle to higher gears so having the 34t is like having a secret cheat code that you don't use too often but really appreciate it when you need it.

The XP is my third e-bike and all of them drained the battery on uphill runs but the level goes back up on the flats.
