American Customary (a.k.a Freedom) Units vs Imperial vs Metric

It's actually 22.2mm, but who's counting? 😁 When I'm working on bikes, I use stainless rulers and tape measures that are dual marked. I have separate SAE and metric calipers, combination wrenches, drill bits, etc. It's a royal PITA. Just go metric for crying out loud.

Phillipsen? Grimay? Who else? Let's discuss. A win is a win is a win. Records broken are records broken. If Mas' lead holds up, would you put an asterisk after his name because Pogi wasn't there? Let's go results for results. How he compares to the others is open to interpretation. He beat...

I did a race where there were young ladies in bikinis spraying us with a water hose. Miraculously, nobody crashed.

I'm finally back after a long four stage race. Great racing. Minimal issues. I just watched today's stage. Yet another outstanding Visma sprint win. Brennan went right around Wout, jumped onto the Cofidis train alongside Meeus and smoked them at the line by a bike length. You have to go back to...

    Fun with AI

Almost. OpenAI admitted that they relaxed security on their network while testing in their sandbox. It got away from them.

    Fun with AI

It is interesting to read OpenAI's post-event report on the situation. The agents that normally are not allowed to communicate directly with each other instead set up a "message board" inside the LLM. What looked like queries were actually two way conversations. They were also not supposed to...

    Buying a House Advice Thread

Well, at least $700K. The price difference between my first home and current home is over 10x. My first salary as an engineer was $25K. I never made even close to $250K during my career. That's another, and very different, issue.

    Public comments while I ride.

About half of the crossings on the CCRT have warning flashers in the road for vehicles, and huge "Walk your bike" signs on the trail sides.

American Customary (a.k.a Freedom) Units vs Imperial vs Metric

I am equally comfortable using both. I would prefer metric for everything.

As long as it's along a straightaway with no painted crosswalks, it's fine. Otherwise, it's a disaster.

Known Issues & Problems with Aventon Products + Help, Solutions, & Fixes

I would bring it to an Aventon dealer near you. Aventon has very good dealer support, so they may be able to work a deal for you to fix this up. The bike looks to be a hub drive, which generally only have motor voltage available. The dealer will know. If you have to go with battery lights, I...

    Buying a House Advice Thread

I bought my first home when I was 25 years old, three years out of college, with a good job, and a low 5 figure college debt. It was that low because I was on a co-op program which paid me a decent wage when not in school, plus I worked a second job at a bike shop, and also did work study. Three...

When cycling, do you like listening to music?

Mrs. Stomp's do, but if she was streaming all day, it reduces the battery life.

"Walk your bike across" is the new "He wasn't wearing a helmet". When I ride the CCRT to the end, there are at least 20, probably 25 crossings each way. Like you said, I can either be the good doobie and walk my bike across, which will take 15-20 seconds, or ride across, which will take 3...
