Very true and much more mechanically sound, but I was talking about leaks caused by deterioration of the O-ring. This is one of the complaints made by SharkBite reviewers.

ProPress fittings also use O-rings and the press makes them more secure, but I'm not sure if the O-ring is any less prone to leaks than push on fittings. They are much cheaper, but more difficult to work with in tight spaces due to the size of the press tool.

I see nothing about price. I would be willing to spend a few $$ more for a safer, lighter battery, but the other advantages are of little interest in my case.
