Surprised there's not more comments from Denver. Our metro area has lots of separated trails, bike lanes, (supposedly) shared roads and, in Downtown there are now barrier-separated lanes. Read someplace that we have over 600 miles of trails, lanes etc. Several 15-20+ mile trails - Platte River...

50s close to 60 here the next few days, going crazy waiting for my layaway Magnum Metro. Another month and a half. Grrrrr! Checking tires on my me-powered step thru.

    Why Quick Release?

My Magnum Metro comes with QR front wheel and seat post. I'm wondering how much use they are for me, thinking about replacing. I'd like to know why having them is important/very helpful, and suggestions for replacement if you have done so. I'm not mechanical, unlikely to do much work other...

What was the coldest ride of your life?

Seems like a trip to REI is in order.

Manufacturers pull out from dealers often?

Put a Magnum Metro on layaway at Best Electric Bike in Denver, 10 blks from home (7 years in business). I won't finish paying for it until Apr/May but laid it away now because of a conversation with owner Terry. He said he started carrying Magnums thinking he had an exclusive deal with them...

    Test rides

Test rode a Pedego, an IZip, a Blix, a Yamaha, the Metro - and a R&M Delite! Saved the Metro for last, right after the R&M. I definitely noticed the more solid feel of the R&M and it really chews up hills, made the previous bikes seem sort of flimsy, weird to say for a 60 lb metal machine but...

What was the coldest ride of your life?

J.R. I wondered about ski goggles. I'll check out the stuff you mentioned, and will try not to feel bad when I blow into the gloves.:D Thx.

What was the coldest ride of your life?

indianajo I was stationed in Fairbanks Alaska '64-'66, went thru AF Arctic Survival School there, similar experiences. My cold tolerance has only decreased since.

    Test rides

Really? There is that much difference in what, the performance? Now I'm for sure going to ride the expensive ones, just to see what you're talking about!

    Test rides

Local le-bs (10 blocks) having a demo day Sat, supposed to be in the 50s so a good day for rides. I've done a lot of research here, think I've narrowed things down to 3 bikes - Surface 604 Rook, Amego Infinite and Magnum Metro. Surface for torque sensor, Magnum because le-bs sells/supports...

What was the coldest ride of your life?

A related question. I wear strong prescription glasses and have a sinus problem - so balaclavas just flat out don't work for me. Breathing gets the glasses fogged up and the sinus problem can make a mess or make me stop frequently and blow. I haven't bought my e-bike yet but a couple of...

E-scooters for rent: Taking a beating

Article in Denver Post today about this but didn't touch on regulation. Here we're got dockless scooters and dockless e-bikes as well as docked regular bikes; the article said a company is now coming out with dockless sit-down scooter. I think this is mostly positive in a "Good, we've got to...

    Trackers

J.R. which model Garmin do you have? Their designated "cycling" trackers are way more money than I want to spend.

    Trackers

Do you track uphill/downhill info on your rides? What do you use? Most info I want to track can come from the display, but not the incline info. Are there apps or hardware available? Lots of hills around Denver, want to be able to measure progress as well as plan trips.

    Battery theft?

Wondering if battery theft is a real problem in urban areas? Here in Denver people steal manhole covers to resell for the metal, and I wonder if those small locks on the batteries are a real deterrent. Anyone have a problem? Do you remove battery?

    Magnum & Amego

I set up Amego Infinite, Surface 604 Rook and Magnum Metro+ on EBR's Compare page. Pretty small differences, on the surface. I'll have to look at them, dig around on the forum. Really sucks not having all of them available for a test ride.

    Magnum & Amego

It seems the Amego and the Surface 604 Rook are coming to the top of my list. The Blix and Velec are probably off-list due to rigid fork, and it sounds like mech discs will take more work than I want to put in. Amego is cheaper but Surface 604 has torque sensors which sound better than cadence.

    Magnum & Amego

Interesting, that's the store where an overly-aggressive sales person ruined my visit. I'm going back for test rides - Blix Aveny, Velec A2 and the Magnums, hoping they'll get the message about my budget and forget about Stromer and R&M, etc.

    Magnum & Amego

Speed is not a prime consideration for me, I only go about 10-12 mph on my me-powered, doubt I'll get much above 20mph on the e-bike. Ability to climb hills, tho, is huge for me - I live 3.5 miles west of Denver, just below the foothills, and flatland is rare. I really need a boost for the...

    Magnum & Amego

Interesting. I already have the Metro on my list. Should get some test rides next week. Thx.
