SHOW us YOUR PIX here .... Odd, WeiRd ,UnUSuAl or EyE CaTchIng things from your rides

Just moved to east side of Denver so new trails to check out. These were taken along the High Line Canal Trail, about mile 58 or so. The prairie dogs don't show too well in the pics but there are several large fields full of them, bikes don't bother them much. They may go to burrows but don't...

    Kroop's Goggles

My eyes water something fierce. Cold air, wind, dust - don't matter, they're pouring. Bought a pair of Kroops's goggles, amber lenses, problem solved. Lightweight, good fit and the vent holes in the top of the lens take care of fogging, even masked. Strongly recommend...

    Saying goodbye to MUTs

Denver's Multi Use Trails are so crowded I'm abandoning them for now. It's impossible to maintain any distance at all from others and at 77 with weakened lungs from decades of cigs and pot that scares me. I've started riding all around town on the streets, something I would never have done...

SHOW us YOUR PIX here .... Odd, WeiRd ,UnUSuAl or EyE CaTchIng things from your rides

A blue-sky day is unusual in Colorado this year; yesterday was the first day I could get out in two weeks, it's been snowing every two - three days not heavy but persistent and the cold cloudy days mean there's been a layer of ice left on roads and paths in places and I'm ultra cautious. But oh...

    Metro 3k miles report

Bought my Metro in April last year, had crappy wx for 2 months and only got a couple of hundred miles. Summer/Fall much better, easily averaged over 100m/wk of recreational path/road riding, normal ride is 25-40 miles, longest was 55. I'm at 3200+ now. Normally ride PAS 1 or 2, top speed I've...

How well did you do in January?

Living at the base of the Rockies in Denver I've learned that winter warm temps means lots of wind as fronts are preceded by winds blowing down the mtns and warming as they drop. Last weekend was 67 Sat, 75 Sun, winds around 20 mph gusts to 35; Monday we got 3-6" snow, temps dropped to -5F by...

Ebike Sightings | What are you seeing?

Numbers seemed to grow on Denver metro area trails last summer, Pedego has a bunch in the south suburban area. REI sells Surly, Trek, Specialized (+others I think) and with their big store in Central Denver as well as several LBS carrying e-bikes now I expect even bigger numbers this year. I...

    Newbie battery questions

10 months ownership of my Magnum Metro, over 3,000 recreation riding miles, no problems save one sidewall flat. So far my longest ride has been 55 miles w/1,000ft climb - left me with 45v. I live in Denver and want to take longer rides further up into the foothills so I'm looking for more...

Let's see your best pic of your electric bicycle

My LBS told me they could raise the stem for me (I want to go with different handlebar as well, more sweep back) but it would require re-cabling, said they've done it before - there's not much play in them now. Guess I should check with Magnum.

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Have you looked at covers for your favorite shoes? Here's a page from REI Denver with a bunch of choices. https://www.rei.com/c/cycling-shoe-covers?ir=category%3Acycling-clothing-accessories&r=category%3Acycling-clothing-accessories%7Ccycling-shoe-covers

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

My favorite place to finish off a ride, the patio of REI/Starbucks at Confluence Park. West facing, perfect with a latte on a cloudy but warm winter day.

External vs Integrated battery packs - which do you prefer and why?

So I'm sorta in both camps with my Magnum Metro.

    Riding in snowy city streets

No idea how well it works but I saw a suggestion of using zip ties around the wheels, about every other spoke, as studs. Cut them off leaving just a stub to act as a spike.

Photochromic sunglasses - yes or no?

My bilateral cataract surgery is sked for Mar 9 and I'm going with distant vision lenses so, for the first time in my life, I have choices in sunglasses other than cheap clip-ons or expensive prescription ones. I know I want polarized, thinking about photochromic as well but I have questions...

2020 : Our Rides in Words, Photos & Videos

40.6m, 981 ft climb, celebrating one month sober. The headwind (20+mph, gust to 35) from the SW made the trip out and the climb a bear but the trip down was a blast! Used 5.5v going out, only 2 coming home. The dog, known by most as Disco Dog, is one of Denver's 1% art projects that requires...

    Are eBike bans actually enforced?

I've seen one radar gun site on Denver's most popular multi-use path, Cherry Creek, but only after a horrendous head-on crash last year. There was no indication of any concern other than speed.
