    The transition

If Africa gets cheap electricity in the next 10 years, it will be because another country like China funded it in order to exploit the natural resources found there. I won't hold my breath though. It seems like most countries and corporations are putting those resources into building AI data...

Riders and lawmakers must understand the actual regulations and intent....

Do you have the time and money/resources to litigate your ideas? There are no organizations out there funded by and lobbying for the average ebike owner. We have to work within the system that has been created.

    Cheers on the 4th!

A bottle of maple syrup never goes bad in the fridge. I use very little and a bottle will lasts for months. There is no reason not to buy the real thing.

Proprietary Bikes and the Right to Repair

I have full sized Vessel brand JIS screwdrivers. I don't think I have any Pozidriv and I can't recall needing one.

Proprietary Bikes and the Right to Repair

There are only four philips in the set. It is a security bit set as @PedalUma pointed out. I have this set, but also a few others. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JHK4LY5?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_4&th=1

Future of Drivetrains, No Gears, No Chain.

Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation was superseded by Einstein's General Theory of Relativity over 100 years ago.

Do you wear cologne when you ride?

Are you sure that smell isn't weed? If I open the windows of my San Jose work apartment in the evening that smell drifts into the apartment and I hate it. But I don't want to shut all the windows and run the A/C all the time when the weather is nice. At least when I am home in the mountains...

    Lock Recommendations?

Even U locks can be defeated in seconds with an angle grinder. If you are locking the bike up in a high crime area unattended for hours at a time It will be difficult to protect it. If your employer has bike lockers available or if they let you bring the bike into the building, do that. If...

I finally took my ebike for a test ride.

This is why I don't wax my chains. If it gets 10% less life, so be it.

Correct chain tension for R&M Delite GX Rohloff (2017/2018)?

I would say that if you aren't having trouble with the chain dropping or making noise, it's not broken and you don't need to fix it.

    The transition

I have some larger batteries to recycle, a couple of SLA batteries from UPSes and an eBike battery. I looked online for a hazardous waste dropoff in San Jose, and you have to call make an appointment with the city to drop off larger batteries. They don't make it easy. I bet a lot of people...

Happy Birthday America! We haven't watched the fireworks show in more than a few years, but we are going to give it a go tonight.

    Versatile rack bag

I like to use packing cubes in my suitcase for travel. These are from REI, but I usually buy the Eagle Creek brand. The mesh allows you to see what is in it.

Shatner is a freak of nature. 95 and could pass for someone in his 70's. That ain't fat, it's genetics.

    Versatile rack bag

I use the Ortlieb Office Bag when commuting to work. It has pockets and a couple of different compartments in it. I use the version with the QL3 mount. You just pull up on the handles and it releases from the bike.
