Giant targeted. Not a good situation...

I was reading up on this, and it seems the US is in difficult tariff negotiations with Taiwan and the motivation is to put pressure on the Taiwanese government to concede to US demands. The labor exploitation issue is much bigger than one Taiwan based bicycle manufacturer. It was also stated...

    Very Interesting .......

I don't know, but maybe the Ultra might work well for this CVT. The problem with the cables is that you are working those spring loaded plates, so it's a bit of effort. An electric/electronic setup might solve that issue. It's a really cool over a century ago concept, but it might have found...

    Very Interesting .......

I have a Nuvinci360 hub, a predecessor of Enviolo. Same design. It has a 360% range. I put it on a bike fitted with a TSDZ2b. I needed more range, or more gears, or more motor. Took the Nuvinci wheel off and went with a derailleur setup, but ulimately gave up on that bike. The Enviolo design...

    Ebike helmet

Some of us have been broken then screwed, glued, and threaded back together. You fit the bike to you the best you can.

Giant targeted. Not a good situation...

Unfortunately the CPI doesn't factor in bicycle parts, but this issue is certainly not limited to Giant. Best to buy bike parts now.

Aventon Pace 500 original model, worth selling?

I don't think they are worth all that much but you never know. I bought one for my son, new, so he could get to work. When he moved away the bike returned to me, and I noticed that the spoke holes were cracking in the rim. So I took the motor out of the rim and put it in a 26" wheel. With the...

    Rear sprocket and hub issue

What gear were you in when riding up your driveway? Hopefully you downshift. The installed freehub might not be capable of handling the 170Nm of torque your mid-drive can produce.

    Ebike helmet

I recently bought a full-face motorcycle helmet, and it is one serious head case. You put it on and you are imprisoned in the thing. I guess you need that in high speed head falls. I would not like that in a bike helmet, but then again I come from a time before bicycle helmets. I remember...

    Ebike or exoskeleton? Or both?

Looks like nothing more than marketing hype. I mean, show me the motors and battery, and how it's all hooked up. It looks like it would be quite uncomfortable in use.

    Li-ion or LiFePO4?

LFP cells have a lower voltage than Li-ion, so you need more in series to get your nominal voltage. I have many surplused A123 LFP cells. 50 amp current rating per cell but only 2500mah per cell. They make great batteries, if you don't mind the size or weight.

    Li-ion or LiFePO4?

LFP batteries are bigger and heavier for the same power rating as LI-ion. Their power density has been going up, but so has Li-ion. As a battery designer, one would need to balance all of the parameters. Myself, I recently bought some 18650 battery cells and they are 3500mah, almost twice the...

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Spent my High School years body surfing and skim boarding on those beaches. That area has special significance for me. Thanks for the journey down memory lane.

    Is MIPS necessary?

Specialized roubaix, guessing 2007. Bought used a year and a half ago, $100 :). A non-profit bike shop went through some changes and jettisoned a bunch of bikes. I picked up 6 for something less than $400. This was one of them. It was in unused condition. My assumption is someone bought it for...

    Is MIPS necessary?

Some bikes go downhill at 40mph easy, no pedaling needed.: Kinda makes me pucker up when I do. MIPS helmet.

    Changing Front Chainring

I would just assume you would need to pull the crank, but maybe not. As it's a hub drive it shouldn't be a problem to change the chainring, and neither is removing the crank with the proper tool. You can try to remove the chainring as it sits. Best to post pictures focused on the area of your...

    The Universal Ebike!

I have a 20" folder, but it's not a fatty . Bought on clearance in 2022, the age before the 20" fat tire folder.

    The Universal Ebike!

I was sitting outside listening to music at a bar in my local state park and saw a number of ebikes ride by. They all looked the same, and I thought those 20 inch fatties are sure popular. Then I saw this article about just that style: a 20 inch fat tired folder...

    Just for fun...

I like my pour over coffee. Fresh ground, black but not bitter. Maybe an acquired taste.
