Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I get the zoomies now and then, but 30-32 mph is plenty fast enough on good pavement (far less offroad) — provided I have reasonable control of the situation. Sounds like that tailwind was more in control of your situation than you were. Death grip indeed!

Is yours an SL 1 or 2? Assuming no fenders (not an EQ model) if it's an SL 1, and you got 45 mm tires on it.

Good luck with your LBS and Specialized. If this is a known, common problem, as @Allan47.7339 says, seems like this should be warranty repair. Uploaded photo file sizes must be under 2MB. Works fine if you stick to that.

I was thinking of watching at least part of a full stage replay. I think Peacock drops them late afternoon Pacific Time (PT) on race day. @Rás Cnoic is at UTC+0, @stompandgo at UTC-5, you and I at UTC-8. Any possibility of a time that works for everyone — say, for the last 1-2 hrs of the...

Follow-up: Well, I did it — new 40 mm Tracer up front, old front 38 mm Pathfinder to the rear, both stock EQ fenders still in place. Verdict: Love the Tracer's performance! And when the rear Pathfinder finally goes, I'll do whatever it takes to get a 40 mm Tracer on back — even if that means...

Besides being a TdF preview, what's notable about the Tour de Suisse? Anything in particular to watch for?

Must've been a thrilling sight in that gorge. The Big Boy's the very definition of BIG! We saw it at a Sacramento, CA train show many years ago. You can't really appreciate the immensity and sense of power it exudes till you're standing right next it feeling like an ant.

Great idea! We could do it by Zoom.* I'll be getting up at 0600 to watch what's left of each stage on Pacific time — typically 50-80 km. The TdF will coincide with the 2nd half of a big remodel, so I could get called away by workers before a stage ends, but still worth a try. Started to say...

2026 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

You really think that space aliens from an advanced cycling civilization would be stupid enough not to spoof our DNA?

Thanks to you guys, I'm learning more and more about pro racing every day. This season especially, I'm struck with the depth of the field and the lack of predictability that brings. On any given stage or day-race, someone whose name I've never heard can win or put in a stellar ride as a helper...

Those great blue herons seem to do a good business. Such elegant birds! The shores and wetlands around Lake Cuyamaca (4613 ft) in the inland mountains were crawling with them. Also frequent visitors to our neighborhood ponds in coastal SoCal and occasional visitors to our lake near Denver.

That'd be my guess. What did the LBS have to say about that after the last recurrence? Is it an authorized Specialized shop?

Stage 6 power At 1.0 km out — after some 130 km of racing and over 10,000 ft of climbing — the 3 stage leaders (van Gils et al.) were climbing a 9% grade at 22 km/h. Out of curiosity, I put these and other plausible parameters into the www.gribble.org power calculator. Over 450W! And these...

From the other room, thought I heard that WVA didn't start today. Maybe yesterday's effort aggravated his injuries. Is it kosher to quit a stage race after achieving some goal just to save yourself for an upcoming race?
