concerns with ebikes laws and ways to improve them

Feels like we're missing an important piece in this puzzle. Can't argue with your experience. But in theory at least, steady speed (no accelerations) is the most energy-efficient path to a given average speed on a given course.

Watching the peloton - Professional Road Racing thread 2026

Jonas really worked hard for today's big CG time gain. One commentator brought up stage greed toward the end. Pogi's faced the same criticism many times. But Matt made 2 points that really resonated with me: 1. This is pro racing. If you can win a stage — and it make sense to burn the energy...

That one by Zanoncello was intentional? What's the consequence for causing a crash like that with an intentional head butt? Is he at legal risk for assault?

Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon NP route suggestions? NOW MOOT

Final report Our last day in this Sierran wonderland was a very twisty drive to Road's End in Kings Canyon from Sequoia's Big Stump entrance. This after a long and slow approach on Highways 245 and 180. Saw no road safe enough to make me regret leaving the bike at home. Like Yosemite Canyon...

Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon NP route suggestions? NOW MOOT

The poles definitely improve walking posture. Also very helpful with balance on uneven ground — not my long suit after some old below-the-knee nerve damage. The poles are so helpful in so many settings at 77 that I'm beginning to see aging as a form of de-evolution — in this case, as a slow...

concerns with ebikes laws and ways to improve them

You left out my row at the bottom. ;^} What does the 1st (%) column refer to, and where can I find an explanation of this chart? At 77, I can easily go WAY faster than anyone should on an MUP on a 40 lb, 250W, 35 Nm ebike with no throttle. In ECO or even in OFF. For legal ebikes granted full...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I replaced my SL 1's stock 44t Praxis chainring with an $80 40t Wolf Tooth narrow-wide at the time of purchase. Almost 4,000 mi later, not a single chain drop. The guard wasn't compatible, so I never had that visual. However, I kinda like the look without — especially with nickel-plated...

Sorry, still not clear on this. So sending 2 guys out front to "pull back the break" is really to pull the peloton forward to catch the break?

How do 2 guys pull a break back, as opposed to the peloton just catching them? Disrupt their cooperation? Wear them down with repeated attacks? Tractor beams?

Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon NP route suggestions? NOW MOOT

Thanks! Luckily, the knee's much better now. It's done everything asked of it with only minor complaints — including a 3.2 mi hike in Yosemite and yesterday's 2 very steep down-and-backs to the Sherman Tree and Crystal Cave in Sequoia. The knee would've said nope to all of that the week before...

Lost live feed at 28 km out with all GC guys still in the peloton. Not that I understand this stuff, but looks to me like Visma is setting up to leave the peloton — and all other GC contenders with it — in the dust on the last climb, with Jonas out of the wind most of the way.

Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon NP route suggestions? NOW MOOT

The roads leading into and through the SW quadrant of Sequoia NP are even more dangerous for cycling than the ones we drove in Yosemite — narrower and much, much twistier with many blind curves and no shoulders at all. How does that song go? "Nowhere to swerve to, baby, nowhere to ride..."...

We came to SoCal from Colorado 4 yrs ago, and from the Bay Area (NorCal) 20 years before that. In all of those places, an I-5 would be "I-5" or just "5" with no "the" in front. Adapting to life in SoCal's generally been easy as pie, but we have yet to pick up that "the". Guess we still have a...

Always wondered where the Anaheim Freeway is. So the Lincoln and Euclid exits off I-5 are north of the I-405 split? South of that split, I-5 is the official San Diego Freeway, right? We started in Carlsbad.
