Going the distance on an ST1

Today I rode my ST1 Elite with 14.5AH battery 85km with 58% charge remaining. Eco + 20% assist.

Bad knee, also a joy to ride.

Touring on a Stromer ST1 Elite

Looking forward to reading your blog. I've got the same configuration ST1 & 14.5AH, even the ABUS folding lock. What are you setting the pedal assist value at? What sort of range were you getting per charge? How heavy were your packs?

Stromer ST1 Review - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

It seems to be, my weight and blood pressure are down, even after sharing the road with Toronto's impatient drivers.

Portable Battery Power for Charging without a nearby outlet

Problems would be weight, size and time. A portable battery that could charge another battery would have to have a higher capacity (charging is not 100% efficient). Its cost (unless it was a very heavy SLA battery) would probably cost as much as a bike that didn't have a removable battery. You'd...

Stromer ST1 Review - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Update: I've lowered the assist ratio to 20% (you need to pedal harder) and in city mode it's more like 0.8% battery per kilometre. My weight is now hovering around 230lbs.

Going the distance on an ST1

Great graph, I've been trying to stay in Eco 30% and slowly dropping it down to Eco 20%. Aiming for 160 km if possible. I doubt regen adds much and it only kicks in when the battery is < 70%

    Comparison for a Tall Guy

The code is #1004, high numbers make the bike pedals a very light touch, low numbers 20 or 30 means you might get a workout. I ride mine at 30 but as I get into better shape I'll drop it down to 20. Overall range is affected by this setting, smaller numbers = longer range. At 5 miles range isn't...

    Comparison for a Tall Guy

Try the Stromer ST1 Elite. Its motor is made for climbing. 40nm vs 30nm on the Platinum. PS you could also try dialling in different power assist ratios.

I guess it boils down to comfort or security, I too was looking at a thudbuster.

    InterLock Seatpost Lock

My wife saw it on Kickstarter and wanted one for her bicycle. We were about to order it online when I came across it locally at MEC for $49 CDN. We both think they're great. It's not designed for those high crime neighbourhoods but when used with my primary lock I'm hoping it adds enough...

    InterLock Seatpost Lock

I picked up an InterLock seat post lock from MEC in Toronto the other day. This was a funded Kickstarter project. It comes in two sizes 25.4 & 27.2 My ST1 has a 31.6 seatpost so I had to drop in a 27.2 to 31.6 seatpost shim (available at a local bicycle shop). This is not my primary lock on...

Stromer ST1 Review - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Nice review Gus. Just to add my 2¢, on my 14.5Ah ST1 Elite I use approximately 1% per kilometre in City mode. I'm 6'2" 232lbs. I've set my assist ratio to 30 and it's mostly flats with a couple of minor hills. Earlier in the week I did a 72km ride in Eco mode with 56% remaining. I used Power a...

ST1 change from MPH to KM/H?

It would be handy to have a Stromer FAQ or Tips. E.g. Sensor sensitivity: code 1004, default 50 This is how hard you have to pedal before the motor assists. A lower numbers require more force on the pedals before the motor assists but will increase range as rider effort is increased...

Going the distance on an ST1

It was good weather today for riding, managed ~50km (this is ~30 miles) with 74% remaining. Lots of peddling at 20% assist in ECO mode. 45psi in the tires. At 20% the power chevrons >>> rarely get above one, you've got to really push the pedals.

Going the distance on an ST1

I'm a 6'2, 235lb rider with bad knees and it's time for me to get some exercise. I would also like to maximize the range. With the default ECO mode it's pretty hard to break a sweat, so I've turned the Sensor Sensitivity down to 20% and now I have to put some effort into my ride. I'd like to do...

Post pics of your Stromer here

I've managed to fit a $50 Toba Roger messenger rack with fender on my ST1. They make another version that has a flat platform on the top but this one looks beautiful. Modifications are minor, you'll need to drill out the rivets on the L bracket but otherwise it's a straight forward...

ST1 change from MPH to KM/H?

Thank you. That worked. Seems the Stromer manual a little incomplete.
