California tries to limit to 250 watt???

I think that making complicated laws with carve outs for cargo bikes being allowed 750 watts just make these laws harder/impossible to enforce. Many police officers don't understand the current ebike laws.

Lady cyclist killed in Davis involving juvenile on ebike...on the bike path.

Give the over the ear buds a try. You don't even feel them and they allow you to hear background noise as well as the bone conducting headphones do. They don't go inside your ear, just sit over them and you listen to them like an external speaker. The quality of the sound is a step above the...

Lady cyclist killed in Davis involving juvenile on ebike...on the bike path.

. Unfortunately, even portable bluetooth speakers get quite loud. I pass people "sharing" their music on the MUP all the time. And it's not just kids. A couple of weeks ago I passed an older guy around my age doing it.

Lady cyclist killed in Davis involving juvenile on ebike...on the bike path.

I don't use them on the bike, but I've gone through several pairs of the shokz bone conducting headphones running over the years. Early models weren't as sweat proof as they claimed and eventually failed at the charging connector. I recently switched to the shokz openfit 2 over the ear buds...

Remove Speedlimit On Ancheer Speedrid Bike

What you are claiming does not make sense. In most states, per law, class 1 and class 2 ebikes cannot provide motor assist over 20 mph. Class 3 ebikes cannot provide assist over 28 mph. In most of Europe, the maximum assist is 15.5 mph. In almost all cases, if the bike has a programmed speed...

Remove Speedlimit On Ancheer Speedrid Bike

Can it do 28mph unloaded (lift the wheel off the ground)? If so, the controller isn't being limited by programming or the kv rating on the motor. The bike just doesn't have enough power to go faster. You should be able to go faster if you get into an aerodynamic position on the bike as wind...

Maybe you could use a p-clamp to attach it to the rack or attach a light to the handlebars instead.

Well, you have to do whatever makes you comfortable. The government has a lot more information about you and they are a lot more likely to use that information against you. The sick thing is that the government can also subpoena private companies for your information if they are coming for you...

    Garmin Varia eRTL615 wiring

You won't have to splice if you can buy or make a converter cable from one connector to the other. Garmin sells some adapter cables for it. If you do have to splice, it should only be two wires. https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/874099/pn/010-02788-00/#accessories...

    Garmin Varia eRTL615 wiring

The eRTL615 is designed to work with an input voltage of 6-12V. A lot of ebike tail lights are designed to work off of battery voltage. So you may need to use a buck converter to step the voltage down.

You aren't their target customer. Nobody who buys that bike will care about the efficiency of pedaling it, just the range of the battery. I am sure that it will be programmed to meet the legal definition of an ebike in the markets they plan to sell it in. How would you like to be caught...
