Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I use the Specy defaults and my lowest power assist has only ever been ECO and the sound is just a purr - no issues.

    Specialized has addressed their problems

Credit for what? Lip service? You don't know Specy will change anything. That's just what they told you. Surprised you're taking the 'word' of a company that you say provided you such a crappy experience all around. You got bad bikes and bad service. But they tell you 'Oh - since you came...

Was not aware that a RE battery could be updated - thanks Stefan - something else to think about when I finally take in my SL for latest firmware.

    Local vs Company-owned store experience

Sirrus is beautiful bike - love the color as well. In my opinion - chain is a bit too long and would take an inch or two out. Like the black fork too. But reminds me, that I could get a FutureShock put on my VadoSL4.

Kickstands may add some weight but prevent a lot of nicks and scrapes on a bike - in my opinion. First and only addition so far to my beautiful VadoSL4.

Clicking sound after new chain fitted

Regarding chains - KMC with a carbon fiber offering - save some weight at a price. Wonder if it's noisier, no matter the position.

I don't consider the wind when I go out on my SL, at least not like when riding my bikes. Unless you're going out with a lesser amount of charge like under 50% or so. Then you might want bring it in to your distance calc. Everyone is different.

    Noob - Creo question

I'm just glad Einstein never watched Youtube. Then it might be E=MC without the little 2. :) Great discussion btw. And remember - if the forecast says there's a 60% for rain that actually means 60% of the area has 100% of getting wet.

Ordering online: Hoping the Retül size tool is accurate

I think the seller still does something to sell the bike because Spec will not sell as many bikes online in areas where no dealers exist since most folks realize eventually they will need service. And what's a 'Tier 1' Spec LBS? What are the criteria?

Terrible paint used on $8,000 Specialized bike and no customer support

My VadoSL paint hasn't had any issues. I'm pretty careful though. Can you attach a picture Elkman? And - don't go to the manufacturer like you stated (curious what they said though). Go to the LBS. They may be more reasonable.

    Noob - Creo question

Here's another way to think about it. Let's say I have a standard bike with a round chainring. And, on that bike, it takes me 100 pedal strokes to go from point A to B. OK - now I switch to an oval chainring, and thanks to the greater efficiency, it now only takes 99 pedal stokes to go from A...

    Noob - Creo question

OK - my thought on oblong chain rings has to do with the position of the leg in relation to the pedals. At certain points of the rotation, we're able to transfer power more efficiently. The oval shape 'smooths' this power transfer out making the distribution of power more efficient/equal...
