A 40km TT used to take an hour. That is how the FTP test came about. How hard could you ride for one hour. Then came EPO, microdosing, super aero bikes, TT helmets with visors, rippled skinsuits, and wind tunnels. 42km is close enough to 40km to be of note but not a factor. You ride it the same...

    Anyone have FordPass?

Forscan can be used without a paid subscription. They give you a temporary one that expires after a number of days. Figure out what you want to change, sign up, then do the work. I've also signed up again many months later to retrieve and reset codes. As for an extended warranty, I have one...

Lady cyclist killed in Davis involving juvenile on ebike...on the bike path.

Unless you are a known quantity who has beliefs that align with yours in some fashion, it seems nobody has respect for anybody anymore, no matter what age they are. Some of us were not raised that way, and don't fall into that trap, but I believe that we are the minority.

Electronic Drivetrain: Is it worth the hype?

Why? Because maybe the OP doesn't own a cycling computer and has no desire to own one.

    Anyone have FordPass?

I have a 2021 Ranger and did not sign up for FordPass. If you think the Maverick is huge, the Ranger must be a semi to you. They are both small trucks. Either your indie mechanic or you should have a OBDLinkEX dongle and the Forscan software. Its a full customization and diagnostic toolset...

My take is nothing changes until after Stage 10, the ITT. Stage 9 is where Jonas will gain back enough time to take the lead on Stage 10. He is still 3+ minutes down and doesn't even have the jersey yet. Let's not Pogify him. The boss and I have a bet on Jonas' GC winning margin. He says Jonas...

Ireland. what are the best eBikes for commuting / city in Europe?

Warranty, maybe, repairs, I highly doubt that there is not an LBS that would work on it.

Today is the big one, Formia to Blockhaus. 240km, about half of it is uphill. There's a Category 2 climb at 166km, then rolling terrain at elevation, a very long descent, and then the Category 1 Blockhaus. 1150m of elevation in 14km, 8.4% average, but much steeper in sections. Coverage has shown...

    Those typically remain wireless.

SRAM AXS systems have cabling options that allow the rear derailleur to the main battery. I know that they have them for Bosch, and for TQ bikes equipped with a Smartbox. I can't comment on other drive systems. Shimano offers versions of their MTB drivetrains that are designed to connect to main...

Amazon Stops Selling Illegal eMotos in CA

Because they're stupid and don't know how to bleed brakes. There's no need to turn them upside down.

I thought that the major crash point would have been the U-turn on the cobbles, but riders rode it smartly, knowing that there was more road ahead. There's no excuse for the final turn 150m from the line. First off, there should be no line inside of 200m, but organizers violate that regulation...

Finishes like today are why the Giro gets a bad rap as pushing the limit of safety. The organizer deserves all the criticism that they may get. It was shocking that more riders didn't get involved in the crash. Fortunately, it looks like most got away unscathed. That said, watch Paul Magnier...

    Another new TQ motor: hpr40

Makes sense. However, the relationship between how hard a rider pedals, how much the motor assists, and the maximum assist power is a fundamental equation in all e-bikes, no matter how it is measured.

Does the May 2026 Bosch Update Have any Impact on the SX Motor and if so, What Is It?

The thing about Bosch that many forget is, that whatever configuration Bosch offers is controlled by the bike manufacturer, not Bosch. Bosch offers it to the manufacturer, but the manufacturer has to adopt it. Any upgrades, and when they are offered, are controlled by the manufacturer. I don't...
