When will Vado SL 4.0(or 5.0) upgrate in 2025

The bicycle industry is still in post-covid turmoil. Though things appear to be improving, there still are serious excess inventory issues for most of the manufacturers and shops. Any expectations for new products from Specialized or its competitors must be tempered by realizing this turmoil...

    GPS vs Maps

Actually Stefan, I do recognize some of these places. My wife and I visited England on a drive and stay vacation, Trusthouse Forte Hotel and Avis car together. Stay at one of the hotels for up to two nights and book the hotel for your next stop. Drive through the countryside for a few hours...

    GPS vs Maps

I’ve only driven a car in London. With streets wrapping around each other and the one way system getting lost is normal for visitors. There was no such thing as a GPS when I was there. My sense of direction was what enabled me to find the Barbican Theatre a feat that was recognized by a fun...

    GPS vs Maps

This has been fascinating. I must be lucky since I live on the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) which is so heavily mapped. The only times I’ve had GPS issues, recently, is when there’s new or emergency road construction. I even was successful using Apple Maps in the Israeli west bank in areas that...

Do you really need to torque a through axle?

Your experiment demonstrates why I asked the original question. I am going to have to get a better wrench than the Lezyne.

Looking for options for panniers etc for carrying groceries on my voltbike kodiak.

Banjo Bros makes “Grocery” Panniers that are very reasonably priced and work as advertised.

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

As has been pointed out ad nauseam in the many Vado SL threads, consider the lights as running lights that help with you being visible. Where I ride regularly the trail is shaded by trees through which the morning or afternoon sun can result in huge visibility challenges. Seeing oncoming riders...

Do you really need to torque a through axle?

The Pro wrench is on my list. It definitely hits the bill. Thanks for the confirmation of my perceptions on practicality.

Do you really need to torque a through axle?

I’ve used my Lezyne which torques to 11 (not a Spinal Tap model) and given it a bit extra, so that‘s probably ok on the road. I’ll have to find one for the garage so I can be more accurate either after getting home from the field repair or for maintenance.

Do you really need to torque a through axle?

I know that the rule of thumb is pro torquing most fasteners on our bikes but most cycling oriented torque wrenches don’t support the 15 NM my Vado SL requires. I only take my wheels off a couple of times a year so it’s hard to justify the cost of an appropriate wrench. Also the ones I’ve found...

Bike jobs that took WAY longer than you ever imagined

It even happens at an LBS. My rear derailleur was working correctly. Brought to the shop. Checks and adjustments were made. Went for a short test ride. Back for more adjustments. Seemed ok. Rode home. Rode next day, same problem, just not as bad. Back to the shop. Rinse and repeat. Several times...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I agree. Sort of. When I ride in DC on a day of high tourism - almost any nice day - it is impossible to not have to stop to avoid injuring said tourists. Especially since I’m being a tourist myself. When I switched from the OEM pedals to Stamps my shins cultivated new scars.

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

Most of my riding is on a rail trail where I have to contend with horses, walkers, runners, other cyclists; some slower some faster. My average speed over thousands of miles and five plus years on an analong as well electric bikes is between 12 (analog) and 15 (E). I hadn’t thought about...

    19.5 mph top speed

As an old man on my Ebike, I get some modicum of pleasure casually cruising past a young guy on a road bike struggling up a hill. Of course, he then shoots by me leaving me in the dust.

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

Actually, I can ride at 28 mph or even faster on occasion on my SL4 EQ. (My highest speed was 34 mph which according to a gearing speed calculator is the speed the bike can go ignoring whether there’s a motor.) Most often this is on the last mile of my usual route with a 3% down slope, often...

    The Carrot Effect

This thread has made me think about my riding in a different way. That’s a good thing. My first adult bike (at 71) was a Cannondale Adventure Hybrid. I found it had what I thought of as its natural speed. In a middle to high middle gear I could pedal easily at about 12 - 15 mph. When conditions...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Actually in the context of Specialized traditionally high prices the prices are almost reasonable. Even for the absurd special edition. After all electronic shifting is is a very popular thing to over pay for. Actually, I’m glad the price is so high. It almost cures the false need illness.

    Redshift ShockStop "Full Suspension" Review

This exchange answere a question I had recently about my setup. The elastomer I’m using is fine for absorbing vibrations and the impact of road cracks, bumps and small broken branches. When things get rougher, such as on a longer gravel ride or a rocky shunt off a trail, I need more help. I’d...
