In the end the step thru design has caught on and become a legitimate frame style that is no longer questioned. The frame flex stigma, or girl bike phenomenon has been put to rest by the abundance of satisfied owners
I ran into the OP's (original posters) erratic shopping experience as well.
I did not feel the comfortable buying a $3-4K ebike and hope things eventually worked out.
I also visited a couple of LBS who had 1 or 2 bike available for a test ride, however they did not have time for me either. They...
You are correct that you can have a good or bad experience with both.
Pedego has their own network of Pedego dedicated bike shops that sell only the Pedego Brand. You are simply less likely to get no response from their dedicated stores vs. online retailers.
Read these threads how often to you...
They both appear to be quality bikes.
The model C may even have better components.
However there is no substitute for a dedicated local shop with a live person if/when issues arise.
In the end it becomes a "Brick and Mortar" sale with live customer support vs. a
internet sale with some...
I don't mean to throw salt on the wound. But for me buying direct always comes with a huge customer service risk.
Once I decided to buy an Ebike. I was immediately committed buying local.
I feared what would happen if/when something went awry.
I chose to by local from a brick and mortar store...
In general I think your right, Pedego's are not the cheapest and do not provide the most bang for the buck. However Pedego buyers are not looking for a bargain. They value a quality product that will last. They also value the extensive dealer network that Pedego offers
Pedego owners want bikes...
Unfortunately shipping during the pandemic has been problematic for many things. The supply chain has a Domino effect creating lots of delays in lots of industries. Ebikes are a small part of problem.
Many household appliances are unavailable, HVAC equipment is in short supply.
These are not...
Just curious what did you buy to replace the Easyfold XT ?
I have 2 stepthru's with fenders, so far the Easyfold looked promising but I am certainly open to all suggestions. Fenders seem to be an issue but the Easyfold can accommodate fenders.
If you want to say the equipment and facilities were not stressed in terms of capacity that's fine.
But if the staff (people) were stressed, Than it's appropriate to say the hospitals were stressed.
In my short time of ownership I tend to agree with this.
I have a hub drive that I am satisfied with. I weigh 300 lbs. and have no issue with local hills and paved roads.
I don't disagree that mid drives systems are superior, however there are many satisfied hub owners who do not feel the need...
I think before I get too concerned about the life of the motor. I would have to consider the price. There is a fair price based on the overall condition of the bike.
I don't think anyone knows when the motor is guaranteed to fail!
It maybe beneficial to find out the cost of a motor replacement...
The devil is always in the details:
From the Yamaha Manual:
Transfer of Warranty. Transfer of the warranty from the original purchaser to any subsequent purchaser is possible by having the Yamaha Power Assist Bicycle inspected by an authorized Yamaha Power Assist Bicycles dealer and requesting...
I can't speaks for other brands, however I have a Pedego ,
they offer a decent 5 year warranty. Battery warranty is 3 years then it becomes pro rated.
They are certainly not the most expensive high end Ebike but they are not bargain priced either
Below is from my Pedego owners manual:
Warranty...
The question is will transferring the warranty benefit the manufacturer?
Will it produce more sales?
I imagine it would benefit the used buyer, but manufacturers are not interested in used sales particularly if it hurts new sales. Remember we are talking budget models bikes. There is not a lot...
The companies have no incentive to extend warranties to the 2nd buyer . There obligation is to the original buyer. The 2nd buyer did not pay the manufacturer any money. Warranties cost money to fulfil. Why should the warranty company spend money on someone who did not spend money with them.
The...
I was in your same boat just. I came across Pedego and was sold.
While I like their product. I was really sold on their after the sale support and dealer network. They have dealers in Alexandria and Frederick.
I want no after the sale headaches.
While I believe they are competitively priced. I...
I imagine Ebikers are less concerned about wear on the battery and more concerned about wear on themselves. When the dust settles, batteries and motors are consumable and can be replaced, but the human parts of the drivetrain are not readily interchangeable.
Ebikes are made to increase /...
While there is plenty of pedaling going on with an Ebike pedal efficiency is sort of an oxymoron with an Ebike.
Clipless pedals are designed to promote pedal efficiency but with a Ebike that efficiency is not necessary due to the motor.
You don't need to maximise every pedal stroke when you...
Another vote for a Pedego Model with upgraded mag rims. Pedego has a few models to choose from. Upgrade the wheels and you can gain lots of weight capacity. While I did lots of reading on Ebikes in general. I did not do a lot of comparing models and manufactures.
However when I came across...
I have a Pedego Boomerang step through. I weigh 300#. I have no issues with frame flex.
For peace of mind my bike has a lifetime warranty.
I don't think heavy trail riding or launching off a steep ramp would be good for the bike but normal street riding or paved/gravel trails won't cause any harm
