Does everyone use a torque wrench?

I also have a set of shorter allen wrenches for applying less force and another set of longer/larger automotive ones for when something really needs to be cranked down. I haven't ever stripped an allen bolt and things have only ever come loose was when I pre-tightened something to check fit and...

    Announced: Yamaha Civante - 28mph

I don't anticipate using the small chainring in almost any situation, so this is effectively a 1x for me. Which is good because if it actually came as a 1x my highest gear would be something like 48x11. As it is, it goes to 50x11, which actually feels useful due to how all the sensors work...

Tips and tricks for Yamaha care and maintenance?

I read through Ravi's general thread on good battery practices and feel like I've got a decent understanding of what to do and why in that regard. I know my way around the bicycle side of things. But I haven't found much out there on how to best care for and maintain the motor or the other...

    Announced: Yamaha Civante - 28mph

Just got my Civante today and got a ride in this evening! The infamous third-floor. First the bad, because overall it's very good. My biggest criticism is that, as a bicycle, it's fine. Not great, not terrible, everything works and there aren't any parts that are obviously bad or...

An ebike to carry up and down stairs?

Hey OP, have you found anything yet? I also live upstairs (3rd floor) and wanted something light, but I need more range for my commute. But if you don't need much range and can wait until next month, I think the Ride1Up Roadster V2 is about as light as ebikes get and isn't much more than the...

2020 Civante Review, Initial 100 mile Impressions

You like Sram better than Shimano, totally understandable. I also find Sram more intuitive and like the more mechanical feel of shifting. But I also have Shimano and it works well once you get used to it. The cheapest option for the Civante is to stay in one chainring in the front for almost...

Looking for all-weather, rural-friendly commuter, must ship to Iceland

You might read through this thread, as well as head over to the mtbr forum it references. https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/whats-it-like-to-ride-a-fat-bike.27090/ You should be able to find plus-size wheelsets with fat-bike hub spacing, or custom order them. Then you can swap out...

    e-not-bikes

Congrats on getting it together! This whole thread is just the best. I saw that urban mushing thing and initially thought, 'that's a recumbent quad!' Then realized, nope, no pedals! lol I'd guess the motor is preferred in the front because the wiring is shorter/easier. But you are...

    Perfect bike

PatriciaK makes some good points. Also, just imagine pedaling that bike with no assist. You've chosen basically every option that makes a bike heavier and less efficient and want them all on the same bike. The only way all those pieces make sense together on one bike is as a commuter ebike...

    Perfect bike

Sounds like your list is pretty close to another recent thread, below. The short answer is that FS belt-drive bikes are rare, perhaps for good reason. I don't think there are any fat bikes mentioned there. https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/help-finding-fs-g510-gates-bike.36689/

Bulls Cross Mover Speed or Juiced Crosscurrent S2?

If you aren't already familiar with regular bike maintenance and only have one local bike shop you're probably safer getting the Bulls. The shop will be more likely to recognize the Bosch system and Bulls brand and therefore more willing to work on the bike if necessary. On the other hand...

Bulls Cross Mover Speed or Juiced Crosscurrent S2?

For sure, if it was me and I wasn't concerned about the price difference I would definitely go with the Bulls. I don't think there's necessarily a problem with Juiced or other online brands, and I generally do my own bike maintenance, but I still like having access to a friendly shop just in case.

Bulls Cross Mover Speed or Juiced Crosscurrent S2?

Those are quite different bikes. I think it's going to come down to what you prefer. You likely have a Bulls dealer in your area if you're buying it from someone locally. That might matter to you when it comes to maintenance and service of the bike. Juiced is online-only and as a second-hand...

Please help me make final decision between Biktrix Ultra Eagle and HPC Scout

Sorry to hear about those issues. I'm not well-versed in the electric side of things, but I'm sure there's a way to measure the watt/power output of the bike to check and see if you got what you paid for. Do you have a facebook account? HPC seem to be fairly active there and might be more...

Am I crazy to carry a 12 pound security chain around with me?

I also think it's going to depend on your feel for the area. If it really is just a bathroom/food stop in the middle of a ride in a more rural area, I'd tend towards the messenger method of getting a U lock around the frame and rear wheel, then keeping half an eye on it while you're inside. Or...

Stairs - Muscle up or an easy alternative?

I also live up a couple flights of stairs in an apartment building. 42lbs for an ebike doesn't sound too bad, and I agree with Stefan that some amount of strength is going to be necessary. However, I've found doing it with a rear hub motor was too awkward. After trying a few bikes, I think...

A Little Self Indulgent Comparison Test

I was not aware of that channel, looks like a good one! Not sure if you know this one, but you might also enjoy Russ and Laura at Path Less Pedaled. Less of the serious stuff and more about riding your bike at "party pace." Many years ago he also ran the Epicurean Cyclist, which was even more...

Please help me make final decision between Biktrix Ultra Eagle and HPC Scout

That's a good update to hear. Bikeflights definitely means you'll get a bike since that's all they do. That also likely means HPC at least did some sort of QC and/or assembly of the bike between getting it from China and sending it on to you, so that's positive. But don't count your chickens...
