    Nutcase is back online

They had been down for awhile. Now, shipping is fast, though selection is still pretty limited. There is the new Street line, though—great bargain at $79 for a helmet with MIPS. The helmet is well made and fits well, though don’t go by their published measurements. I wear a 7 3/8 fitted...

    Juneteenth ride around San Francisco

Juneteenth also happens to be my birthday. In years past, I’ve wanted to spend it at the ballpark. Quarantine didn’t change that.

    Saddle

You'll be spoiled by that saddle in no time, especially on a Vado. That was my last setup and is my new one too, on a Vado SL. I'm a huge advocate of their design, quality and quick service. Being a California-made product is icing on the cake! Enjoy the ride...

    Saddle

I believe the Bridge Sport is a level 3 padding, so that explains the difference I felt. Visually, the two saddles are almost indistinguishable.

Rider made a comment yesterday on the trail

I remember several months ago, on my Vado 4.0, pulling up to an intersection in the Financial District of San Francisco on my way home one evening. I had just turned from Market St., so there were a few riders with me along with some car traffic. I was in the bus lane, as there was no bike lane...

More than just a saddle swap.

I recently swapped the Specialized Bridge Sport saddle that came with my Vado SL with a Selle Anatomica H2. Huge improvement right out of the box! The pre-tensioned leather "hammock-style" Selle is both supportive and conforming. 5-stars. I made no adjustments to the mount when installing the...

Steve from So.Utah here, I have a Jetson Adventure ebike

I had some minor issues with my Specialized Vado 4.0 that I mostly attributed to the build and my first bike shop's inexperience with ebikes. My Turbo Connect Display kept setting my clock to Eastern time whenever I used Mission Control and the motor was surging after I stopped pedaling (the...

    batteries

Pretty sure it's not advisable for users to "open these batteries and replace the cells." In fact, it's quite dangerous to do so, both in how you might handle the powerful cells and risk injury, and how you would dispose of the old cells and potentially risk environmental damage. There's also...

    Hi from Boston! Soon-to-be-eBiker!

A lot of people will ask you how fast and how far it goes--especially the scooter/OneWheel crowd (of which I'm sure you'll meet many in Boston). You picked a couple of easy riding, fun, powerful ebikes there. You will love them. Have fun and enjoy your newfound mobility. In a dense city like...

    Como vs Vado- HELP!

Kinekt 2.1 and 3.1 (carbon) are available on the Selle Anatomica site for the same prices available everywhere else... except Selle Anatomica currently offers 25% off with the code available on their home page. Just sayin'

    Como vs Vado- HELP!

I think this is a good call, as the Vado seemed to me the more versatile of the two—it’s easier to ride the more capable bike casually than it is the other way around. In any case, choose the frame size that best fits your desired position and you’re good to go.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ-My 2 cents

I think you’d probably change your position if you were riding in city traffic (read: necessity of staying relatively fast) while negotiating steep downhills. As I noted, for the majority of rides and riders, I’m sure the Vado’s brakes are fine. The small percentage of us who tackle urban...

I was also quite amazed at how quickly I was able to normalize considerations for bikes in this price range.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ-My 2 cents

I think the Vado 4.0 will grow on you. You definitely have an awesome bike there. I'd still be riding mine if it hadn't rode off without me a few months ago...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ-My 2 cents

Re: The SL brakes--I think they are a good spec for this bike, as the stopping power is excellent, though I find them a bit "grabby" on a fast downhill run. Perhaps they'll mellow as they wear in. With my previous "heavy" Vado, I felt a bit under-braked on the same hills. On flats and at speed...
