Press-fit. The adaptors are eccentric so the motor can be closer to the frame. They get hammered in.

Interesting uses for old bike parts

@Jeremy McCreary, A couple of years ago I read about someone using angled gyroscopes to reduce the apparent weight of an object on a scale. This sculpture is in the nearby town of Santa Rosa and was made out of bicycles by a Petaluma artist. I wonder if it will act like a lightning rod.

Off topic. Did you know that the National Association of Divorce Attorneys (NADA) came up with a plan, put the NBA draft picks on Mother's Day morning. Who do you love most? Sitting on the couch drinking a beer, doing nothing, or making me breakfast in bed and entertaining the kids?

This is from Park Tool: Threaded bottom brackets shells have been made over time in various thread standards that are not interchangeable. The common threaded bottom bracket uses cups or adapters with the thread specification of 1.37″ x 24 threads per inch (approximately 34.8 mm diameter). The...

    Some Jams are Good

@DaveMatthews raised the bar. Prince toped Eric Clapton. My God, it was great! The bar has been raised by Dave. It needs to be an excel over-the-top & be an improvisational jam. Do you put jam on your toast, or more with your musical preferences? Or, do you like mechanical jams on your...

Yes, it is weird. Suddenly some of the thumbnails have 90 views, like this one, instead of 5.

I looked it up. When I did it I made a heat shield from double walled (with an air gap) large coffee cans. It was to install a valve for an icemaker line. I also cut a gap in the top and bottom so it fit around the pipe.

@Darth_Vado, Oh, cool. I had no idea! It seems that only six guys post. Wasn't it fun when I went through an entire build process on that gravel bike, including the setbacks and compromises? And that people got to comment on the job as it was happening? Also, how I acquired that bike. That...

What is scary to me is that they need to solder the copper pipes inside your walls with a torch. What could go wrong?

I am making a fattie right now. It is a Specialized Fat Boy. I had to make tapered eccentric cups to fit the large diameter bottom bracket shell so it can hold the English bottom bracket motor. Next I need some extra long screws for the mounting plate. And I need spacers. The camera's date stamp...

So you have close access to the San Gabriel/LA river path that goes up to Pasadena. Or could head down to Laguna. Nice.

California tries to limit to 250 watt???

I wanted to tell a mom to download the donor form from the UCSF Transplant Center and have both parents notarize it. Then they can get vouchers to have their 14-year-old's illegal 70 mph motorcycle's brakes worked on for free. Lots of old guys in the Silicon Valley want fresh kidneys, livers...

California tries to limit to 250 watt???

I contacted my representative. This is what he said: Agree that the bill is now problematic with the amendments from the Transportation Committee. I have spoken with the author and expressed concerns, and have also requested that my name be removed as a co-author given the changes to the...

California tries to limit to 250 watt???

I just seconds ago closed a deal on a motor with support from me. He wants to install it himself. This last face to face meeting took two hours. He lives up on Mount Tam in Marin, CA and is 70-years-old with no throttle. 250W wouldn't do it for him. It is not that he wants to speed. He wants to...
