I agree! What I really want/need is a lightweight (preferably Specialized) bike that I can take the battery out for charging when staying at hotels or B&B on tour. I currently have to take a couple of range extenders and set the bike to use them first to preserve the built in battery charge.

Ive used quadlock for many years over long European tours and they have been bombproof! As mentioned they can be a little fiddly to engage at times for no apparent reason but once in place totally secure.

I also saw a report saying that testing showed that a higher position was overall more aerodynamic as the elbows can more easily be tucked and forearms kept horizontal for a longer period of time without exhaustion. I’m not sure such things are a concern to us older guys though!

That’s true but a drop bar bike is designed to be mainly ridden on the hoods or drops hence the different top tube lengths or if converting a longer stem. The real issue is buying a very expensive bike knowing that your not happy with so immediately spending a considerable amount of money...

Im not sure that would work as you need a specific bottle with the magnets built in. I think Fidlock sell a strap on attachment but i would be be wary of using it for a range extender.
