    2021–2022 Riese & Müller Homage

That was true for me too - took a stupidly long time for the LBS to get supply of those - 3-5months as I recall!

Using Copilot AI to find my next eBike

Oh that makes for an expensive trip! damn! I made sure to take my Garmin Edge 1040 and Garmin Varia off my bike before handing it over to the captain of the boat for racking! I was riding out the peninsula to Portobello around 1-2pm, as I had to wait for 90mins for the 3:15pm ferry...

Using Copilot AI to find my next eBike

@Jay Kay I was in Dunedin on the weekend visiting my two girls studying down there, and on the 1yr anniversary of rupturing my quadriceps tendon I went for a big bike ride on my non-electric gravel bike. We were staying at a friend's house in Waitati so had to haul over Mt Cargill to start, then...

Using Copilot AI to find my next eBike

I should add, some of these bikes I've never heard of, so this was a useful compare and contrast exercise for me!

Using Copilot AI to find my next eBike

So I've spent 10mins getting MSFT's Copilot to try find my next eBike. I fed it this prompt: and then told it what I like/don't like about my SC2: After some back and forwards I got it to reformat all the suggestions based on those that support a Gates belt drive (my preference) and those that...

Has anyone got first hand Pinion experience yet?

Thanks Lumos! Will be interesting to see how it travels when you get your hands on it full time. I do appreciate the detailed feedback based off your test ride. It can't be easy being patient waiting until June for a new toy!

Transporting Cargo eBikes (specially Dutch style)

I believe some "road side assistance" plans in NZ extend to eBikes i.e. if you need to transport your bike from the scene of the "breakdown" to the nearest LBS of your choice, they will have an appropriate vehicle to make it happen. I don't have any plans like this but if I got a Dutch eCargo...

Has anyone got first hand Pinion experience yet?

Keen to hear if people have got their own Pinion R&M and what the experience has been like? I had a look at my LBS and they only seem to have Vario/Rohloff/Deraillieur options still Riese and Muller In Stock or Arriving Soon – Christchurch Electric Bicycles Cheers Sam

    D-Lock for Supercharger 2

I use the ABUS 6000A for my SC2 everywhere I go and it’s excellent. Folding, audible alarm when interfered with, works great for me: https://www.abus.com/int/Consumer/Highlights/One-Key-Option/Types-of-keys/OneKey-Plus/BORDO-Alarm-6000A

Interested in experience of people transitioning to a frontloading cargo bike

Agreed on all the above. My 2x Vario on SC2/MC Mixte have not failed but are under-geared for an eBike in my view. That said, the complaints around Rohloff are not necessarily much better!

Interested in experience of people transitioning to a frontloading cargo bike

Interesting - LBS R&M Dealer just listed a Packster with significant discount: Riese and Muller Packster 70 Vario - Dual Battery – Christchurch Electric Bicycles Interestingly, appears to be a refurbished model:

    Charger 3 stolen.

Sorry to hear of your loss - super annoying for sure but the silver lining is the fun of experiencing a new bike…. I’d be super interested in your experience and thoughts on a Pinion gearbox vs the Rohloff…. I have a Rohloff on my non-electric gravel adventure bike but really do think Pinions...

    Shorter cranks on SuperCharger 2

https://samuelmcneill.com/2024/11/08/massive-knee-injuries-change-everything-why-ive-not-been-blogging-recently/ A cathartic retelling of my knee injury and subsequent journey. I’ve zero expectations anyone reads it fully, but if you’re suffering insomnia this may help a little…the good news is...

Interested in experience of people transitioning to a frontloading cargo bike

I do have a dealer close (where I bought my R&M SuperCharger from, but they would likely not do a super extended test ride (e.g. an over night) as it will clock up km's on a product someone else will want to buy "for new". They were talking about their partnership status changing with R&M which...

Not so sure about that comment - in NZ where I live if I spec'ed a Load with a Rohloff+HS Bosch it would exceed NZD$20,000! (USD$12K) so it's absolutely in the small car price range.

Interested in experience of people transitioning to a frontloading cargo bike

Hi Guys, Every now and then I entertain the idea of getting a front loading cargo bike like the R&M Load to perhaps replace by R&M Supercharger 2 I'd be really interested in the experience of anyone who has gone to something like that and if they've had any regrets etc. A few things (in no...

    Superdelite5

Hmm not my cup of tea in terms of aesthetics but then they do say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I just can't look beyond how they've tried to 'hide' the motor in the bottom of the frame like that ... all the Pinion bikes I've seen look svelte so this seems overkill. It feels...

    Touch up paint

After initially being frustrated with paint chips on my bikes, I’ve decided they’re part of the bike’s personality now and just accept them as evidence of well used bikes 😉
