True :) Light touring, for many, has taken a new form today: bikepacking, which means you may not need mounts (other than, say, fork mounts). Today, there are alternatives that do not require mounting fork points so that can be worked out. Bikepacking.com For many folks, a "true"...

I agree with you. I also feel sorry for the staff who were fired when the takeover took place. My ethics are such that I can not support such a business model. Each to their own, of course.

Well, if that is one's use case, then that is fine. As for paying for an app, that is a personal choice. Personally, I do not see the value in Komoot (nor will my ethics allow me to pay Bending Spoons), but I appreciate that it is a different choice for you. I am not interested in judging you...

Please see my comment posted previously. Your response does not change that experience. One you do not have to incur with at least some Garmin models, including the Wahoo Ace's direct competitors, the 1030, 1040 and 1050. Heck, you can even do this on the Hammerhead Karoo 3. That Wahoo...

Ebike touring recommendations 120 km a day range with a 150 kg (bike+ rider luggage) and 750-800 wh battery or 2 batteries 750-800 wh batteries

Tell me about it ... Way back when, I was riding a low-end Giant something MTB (pre-XTC) on the Munda Biddi Trail, and the bike started losing brake fluid. The nearest bike shop was a few days' riding away and in the wrong direction. The only 'solution' I could find locally from the supermarket...

Wahoo support has suggested another option using Apple/Google maps. I am not familiar with Apple Maps, but at least with Google it is easy to save offline maps. See https://support.wahoofitness.com/hc/en-us/articles/25934007840914-Routes-Share-a-location-from-Apple-or-Google-Maps-apps-ACE.

According to Specialized, and I quote, "LOAD UP, HEAD OUT: Take a little or a lot on any ride. Creo 2 Alloy accepts a variety of front, rear, and low-rider racks. Who says you can’t take it all?" Whilst it can take racks, a more lightweight approach to touring, or rather backpacking, can avoid...

This can be addressed by using alternatives such as the Orlieb Fork Pack 4.1 Litre or the 5.8 litre. I have a pair of 4.1-litre packs fitted to my R&M Supercharger and have not experienced any issues bikepacking with them. Proof of Concept – LHS by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

As far as I can find out, it is not sold in Australia. I did email the distributor about it last year, but got no response. I guess that says it all really.

I simulated my phone not having cell coverage (set it to flight mode) and attempted to add a location to my saved locations in the Wahoo app. It failed, which suggests this feature requires cell coverage. From my perspective as a bikepacker/tourer, who is often out of range, this is not ideal...

There is an R&M Charger on eBay. It is located in Lane Cove, NSW 2066. The seller is asking AU$3,500 for it. Looks good going from the photos. However, and this is a red flag to me ... "Ridden only 170 kms. .... The battery is well past its half-life, and is reflected in the asking price."

My most recent experience is with the Garmin Edge 1030. The manual, page 25 outlines the navigate to a location feature.

As I noted in my earlier reply, at least with the Edge 1000 and onwards, routing to POI, localities and addresses directly in the GPS unit is possible and I have done it at times. I have never used my phone. Maybe this is limited to the higher-end models in the range.

Thanks for the directions on the app. I did look at the app but missed that completely. I notice that the app maps show street names, which is helpful. Interestingly, I entered the name of a country town in Western Australia, and it returned suggestions in India. This is despite it showing my...

Ebike touring recommendations 120 km a day range with a 150 kg (bike+ rider luggage) and 750-800 wh battery or 2 batteries 750-800 wh batteries

My range comments previously reflect my bikepacking experience in Western Australia, which is predominantly on dirt roads (country roads, forestry tracks, sand, and singletrack), with more rolling terrain than mountains. I avoid bitumen where possible. That said, a normal day of riding can be...

32 in my SuperCharger. Another option is maybe the Turbo Tero 4.0 EQ or Turbo Tero 5.00 EQ with the Turbo Full Power 2.0 Motor and 710 Wh Battery. Not sure if you can use an extender battery with this setup. I am not that familiar with Shimano groupsets, but it has a Cues 9-speed, which does...

Not Stefan but in my experience, I prefer motels or caravan park cabins or the like or if hotels I request a ground floor unit if possible and I just wheel my R&M to charge it. That said I can remove the batteries as a last resort but have not had to bother so far. Can you please provide the...
