2026 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Hah - think I found that old ebike! It's a long established Spanish brand called, unusually "Monty". Has anyone heard of them? I just put 'old style e bike' into google search as I was curious because it has that same battery behind seat post, step over design that the very first 1990s Yamaha...

Is that bike a "DIY' conversion? Looking at it, to fit that enormous battery would have involved a total rear triangle frame break and re-weld. The frame, seatstays & chainstays, look purpose made for that battery. Maybe just a very old type of ebike, perhaps more recently 'souped' up with...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Sure- but it's adjustable. I just press that red button halfway along the stand and can lengthen or shorten.

    Weird Specialized discovery....

Back when I lived in London, everyone used spray paint or wrapped the frame in cut up strips of inner tube to disguise the value of the frame! If they weren't all beaters they sure looked like it.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

But be careful, looking on Halfords they have a number of different kickstands, different mounts etc. Bought mine over 2 years ago so don't have full details but it was called: "Essential kickstand, 24-28" adjustable, 40mm mounting holes"

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Bought a bog standard Halfords one in '23. Cheap, length adjustable and solid, seems fine after over 2 years of use: https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-accessories/kick-stands/m%3Apart-essential-adjustable-kickstand-24-29in-20kg-881774.html

Dwars door Vlaanderen finale! Heartbreak again for Van Aert. Only consolation as I said above, is he is clearly on form. But this will hurt. Twice in a week caught just before the line.

Unfortunately we have zero clue about Nascar over here- probably as much knowledge as you have about the Grand National! I always loved that old story of two touring cyclists meeting on a Himalayan pass, one Chinese the other English, neither speaking each others language then the Chinese...

Watching the peloton - Professional Road Racing thread 2026

Over here Flanders is the big Monument, the toughest of all, Milan San Remo the first each year, Roubaix the wildest and most popular among general public (so many crashes I guess, equivalent to the Grand National Horse Race I think for similar reasons.) Leige, for me, gets forgotten a bit, I...

DJI ANNOUNCE NEW HYBRID EMTB WITH DRONE TECHNOLOGY

In a massive shock to the bike industry DJI have just announced a new motor system that incorporates some of their patented drone technology. The press release says this tech will help riders on technical climbs by enabling the EMTB to lift off momentarily when bunnyhopping allowing the rider to...

    Rohloff or not?

Most tourers carry a spare belt just in case, especially if riding in remote areas. But they fail only extremely rarely and it's a 5 min job to replace. Plus a spare is light and clean and easy to stash in a bag or pannier. Not sure what the fuss is I mean Rohloff have been making IGHs since the...

Yako, of this parish, lives in the Pripyat area of Catalonia and gets to test all those lovely ebikes companies keep sending him in those landscapes. spectacular. Here's his latest ride on a Canyon Grizl, even gets to take in a big race, not the Volta, must be a Pro series race or something but...

    Weird Specialized discovery....

You're right, not for sale here. Not sure what you dislike about them though, funny hill to die on. Most brands do cargo bikes, seem a growing trend and useful.

    Weird Specialized discovery....

Yeah they're not common here but on the lanes would be tricky anyway if a van or tractor was coming against you, just no room. See them down in Exeter doing deliverys etc.

    Weird Specialized discovery....

It's the best! Top flap opens forward so easy to flick open (velcro) and grab a snack, pair of gloves, what have you & it's always in sight so no danger of losing it on rough roads and not realise it's been dumped off somewhere.

    Weird Specialized discovery....

This the one: https://www.cyclingweekly.com/reviews/e-bikes/big-cargo-the-specialized-globe-haul-lt-reviewed It looks like a cargo bike. It's made by Specialized. Tektro brakes, Microshift 10 speed gears all good. What's the problem? Cargo bikes are like vans. Practical unfussy solid and...

    Weird Specialized discovery....

But if you give me the nod I'm sure I can get you an equally beautiful mirror for a very reasonable price...👍 Re sweep, tried a couple of different options and just liked this one most. Suits the twisty narrow lanes here where aero is not important so my more upright position isn't a problem. I...

    Weird Specialized discovery....

Here's my bars, good sweep and much narrower then the stock bars. Tried inner bars at one stage using cast off hoods (removed levers) but wasn't using them much as position felt too stretched out. Think the Ergon grips are GP1s can't remember. This set up is by no means aero but it is extremely...
