If you trim the tape rough surface at right texture it will last or equal to the same friction of tire would roll on the road surface.

I use 150-CW grade but it doesn't matter, just use any sand paper enough to blunt off the grip tape surface.

Try it, before stick the grip tape on the roller don't forget to sand paper it to trim the roughness first so that i will not shred the tires. ;) Mines worked and no longer need any tape placement or maintenance. Perfect! :)
