Future of Drivetrains, No Gears, No Chain.

There have been many inventions that pave the floor of bike Hell :) I said: "start with an almost empty battery and ride the thing for several long miles to judge". But it is not only that. The EU definition of a bike is "a vehicle propelled by human muscle power... that can be assisted by an...

Future of Drivetrains, No Gears, No Chain.

OK, I now see the picture. The man rides on the throttle, and he only pedals the generator to produce more energy. On full power e-bikes, an average rider only contributes with 25-33% of the energy needed for the ride. With the generator of efficiency of 80%, the guy contributes as the battery...

    New mirrors day

Turns out, Mirrycles can still be imported in Europe from Amazon.com. The end-user price and shipment cost are now high but I can get two new spare mirrycles within 7 days. So I go for it. P.S. I've just realised Mirrycle is the only American made product I really need, so I'm glad I can...

    Rohloff or not?

Most probably your rear-view mirror points up. It is a clever idea to install the mirror like this: There is only one mirror make/model I know of that can be used this way, and it is the American made Mirrycle. I do not use handlebar jacks. My other e-bike has short bar ends, which are adequate...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I have been on several long rides and the derailleur worked perfectly. Yes, I experienced some trouble in the earliest phase of using the system but that was caused by my lack of understanding and little experience. For instance, the derailleur "thought" the gear 6 was the top gear. The issue...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Converting to 12 Speed! As the electronic Wheeltop derailleur (and the new DT Swiss rear wheel) gave me the total freedom of choice for the drivetrain, I decided to go to twelve speeds with my Vado SL: A DT Swiss Star Ratchet freehub body with Micro Spline, 148 mm A Shimano Deore XT CS-M8200...

    Rohloff or not?

Is it always the quick release and dropouts, or the thru-axle version exists as well?

    New mirrors day

I could eventually fix the second Mirrycle using Loctite and an "almost good" wedge from one of old Mirrycles I kept. The other flaw of the mirror is the mounting wedges often crack inside the handlebar. The wedge I reclaimed was cracked but still good to use.

One may dislike some names such as Hafny or Bontrager 😊

    New mirrors day

Refreshing an old thread. I've been a fan of Mirrycle mirrors since 2019. The Mirrycle was one of a few bike rear view mirrors that were totally symmetrical and could be installed below the handlebar grip (not extending the bike width and protecting the glass). A Wahoo 1 on the stem indicates...

    Easy way to clean rotors.

How does the "black" affect your braking? Well, the brakes get noisy under one or more circumstances: During the rain; the heat released during braking makes the brakes silent soon Brake contamination, especially during terrain rides. Washing the bike with water usually cleans the brakes, too...

Turbo Vado SL 4.0 Tick-Tock Noise

The bottom bracket of traditional bikes remains a mystery for me :) Why do some users need to buy a crankset to replace the chainrings? Why do other users only need to replace the chainring? Why aren't bottom brackets standardised? (These are rhetorical questions!) A riding buddy looked at my...

Thank you Allan! You are the most helpful user! My battery didn't produce any error or a red bar. I consider it as a one-off incident.
