I thought Class 3 would feel safer on the road

Not to mention that if you crash your bike at 30mph it's going to hurt a lot more than if you crash at 15mph.

rear hub motor riding styles affects on chains

There are some hills every ride but most are not too long so only short bursts of PAS 4 and sometimes 5. Some groomed gravel trails and the occasional dirt rode.

rear hub motor riding styles affects on chains

900 miles? Wow, that's too bad. I replaced my stock chain at around 2,000 miles with KMC. I've got a little over 4300 miles on it now and it's still good. I live on the coast too but here it's rocky rather than sandy.

rear hub motor riding styles affects on chains

OK, Do you think during shifting there is more chain wear as it jumps for cog to cog than just from turning the wheel? I think you are in Florida? where I would guess fewer hills than Maine although I've never been there. Does the KT controller deliver more power that stock Rad ones?

rear hub motor riding styles affects on chains

Over time I've developed a fairly specific riding style. My rides are generally in the 15-25 mile range. I have no interest in speed and usually ride in the 10-15 mph range. I don't shift much and am generally in either 3rd or 4th gear (out of 7) I pretty much never use 1st or 2nd and 5-7...

CLASS 1 EBIKES: A VANISHING BREED?

50mph on a bicycle sounds insane. I start pumping my brakes when I get close to 25MPH.

CLASS 1 EBIKES: A VANISHING BREED?

I don't think speed is as much a factor as convenience. While I don't use it much, a throttle is great for getting rolling from a dead stop especially when in a higher gear.

10 Different bike saddles, and still a sore ass

They all look the same to me. A bunch of skinny little seats. My most comfortable seat is soft and about 13" wide.

More Rad lawsuit fallout? (good for the consumer)

I just find it easier to install new tires with the bike upside down.

More Rad lawsuit fallout? (good for the consumer)

I've had a set of Juintech on my rad rover for a year now and like them a lot. I've yet to have to adjust the cable. That said I had no problem with the original brakes easily stopping the bike and only replaced them when something happened to the front caliper and it wouldn't function anymore...

    Obsession with hydraulic brakes

I thought they were fine as well but needed frequent adjusting. I did put a set of mechanically activated hydraulics on my bike when the front caliper died on me and was impressed by how well they work and how easy they are to install. A year or so later I have not had to adjust them at all.

Should I buy a maintenance package from LBS

What exactly does that mean? Is it just service or parts and service? If just service I would say no. If it was parts and service it might be worth it if you plan to ride a lot.

QR skewer & disk brakes claimed as a contributing factor in fatal accident involving a RadRunner

Sounds like just another case of user screwing up and not taking personal responsibility.

So what's the issue? Maybe someone here can help solve it.

How about mechanically operated hydraulic calipers. I switched to those and like them a lot.

    Co-op rules against ebike

Ok thanks but as far as you know there is nothing I can look for that might give me some advance warning that either the battery or the charger is becoming dangerous to use just based on normal use. I know the way I use the bike as in never ride or leave the bike in any kind of inclement...

    Co-op rules against ebike

I got to wondering if there are any warning signs that might prevent some of these fires. I have two Rad batteries that I rotate so I'm using one battery for every other ride. When charging the charger gets a little warm to the touch while the battery stays cold. When charging is complete both...
