Yes, that is a recipe for issues, small wires and brittle insulation. The brittle issue will only get worse. Time and Heat causes this. If it were me I would just get a new one at this point.

I am left handed but kick a football with right foot. I mount my E-Bike with Right leg. I do not notice if left foot or right foot is forward at rest but going around sharp curve I just have both pedals horizontal and level.

What if you tied the two ropes together on the pulling end and adjusting the tie point where they pull together? Is there a better way. I am trying to see in my mind how you laced for one rope pulling
