    Great Time To Buy A City Step-Thru — $999

The only difference I see between the 2019 and 2020 Step-thru is that the 2020 model has a new headlight. That makes $999 for the 2019 model a very good deal.

new owner and question about our bike display of battery power left

Color me impressed, at getting out at this time of the year. It is 34 F here currently, but there is a 25-30 mph wind. The big issue for me are the wind speeds.

    Finally gone?

I couldn't find a "buy me" link on their web site. Does this mean that they are officially liquidated?

new owner and question about our bike display of battery power left

I would not worry. I have a short commute but with significant hills such that I am often in PAS 3 or 4. It took several days before I lost a bar on the indicator.

Question about the 80%/20% rule for battery maintenance in winter

Really? The battery is that sensitive to going below 50F?

Question about the 80%/20% rule for battery maintenance in winter

It looks like I will not be riding for the next couple of months, and so I am in battery maintenance mode. The usual recommendation is charge the battery to 80% (or 75% or 90%) and let the charge dissipate to about 20% (or 25% or 30%) and then recharge to 80%. What I don't follow is how you...

What are your speculations for 2020 Rad Power Bikes?

Mike: I have a question for you. People who buy Rad bikes are typically DIY people. But I know lots of people who would be interested in an e-bike but are not DIY people. Do you see a hybrid arrangement in which people buy a direct-to-consumer bike and have it shipped to a local shop. The...

What are your speculations for 2020 Rad Power Bikes?

I see other markets expanding, specifically active seniors who live in smaller towns where they don't have a daily hour-long commute.

    Newbie - Battery Question

In my case, I discovered the (disconnection) problem by tracing from the display back towards the battery. I would disconnect and reconnect any plug connection in that path. Otherwise, in my experience, Rad has been good in support of their products. Good luck.

RangerDave is correct. The centering part of the adjustment process is very important. It will save you lots of time and hassle.

I do like the quietness of the DD motor.

    2020

My wish is that it would be easier to adjust the rear brake on the step-thru. Basically, you have the choice of removing the rear wheel or removing the rear brake to make the adjustment. I have seen the 'shiv with an allen-wrench nub' and wonder how well it works.

BAM bikes identical to Rad Power bikes?

Thanks to AHicks for a thoughtful response. Here is my experience, which is consistent with his response. When I began to become interested in buying an e-bike then there was no LBS that sold them. I identified some potential bikes of interest and located dealers. One was a dealer 3 hours...

    Damn Shame About Faraday

Congrats on the retroactive discount. $525 should be enough to pay for a restaurant tab in Brooklyn. :-)

Are wire bead tires compatible with the wheels on a 2019 Rad Rover?

I checked the Rad web site and they do not list a specific brand name for the rim so you will need to get the rim size from Rad.

Are wire bead tires compatible with the wheels on a 2019 Rad Rover?

Get the inner rim width from Rad. They can't turn down that request. Lots of tire manufacturers have look up tables to indicate what tires will fit that rim size.

Are wire bead tires compatible with the wheels on a 2019 Rad Rover?

One issue to consider is that the range of tire widths that are suitable are governed by your inner rim width. I would ask Rad for that info and the suitable range of tire widths.
