    Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

    Which Pirelli model? A little more compliance does sound tempting when the 38s are done.

    Speaking of highlights, why am I seeing only the last few km of any given race on YouTube now? Seems like a new trend since even last pro season. Did some nefarious Bond villain buy up all the rights to earlier parts of pro races? Are timely true highlight reels that much more expensive to...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

    I'm encouraged that your field data keeps showing a Pm(Pr) function with a linear ramp-flat structure with (a) the ramp and flat both straight lines, and (b) the flat close enough to horizontal for modeling purposes. My original Pm(Pr) model from 2024 Spec documents had the same structure...

    Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

    Curious, what's your motivation for going from 42 to 45 mm tires? I'm running the tubeless Pathfinder Pro 38s on my SL 1 5.0. Love riding gravel on this bike when I can, but most rides from home are on pavement. The only reason I'd consider going wider than 38 mm would be for safer braking on...

    Thanks for the link! I have a hard time listening to Chris Horner for more than a few minutes at a time, so I never made it to the part where he discusses all the crashes. One after another — never seen anything like it! Guessing that cobbles and wet roads had something to do with it.

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

    From Spec SL 2 documentation... Note the last bullet point. The same document said the same thing about the TCU's motor power field. May or may not not apply to motor power data pulled from .FIT files.

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

    Spec's SL 2 documentation says that the mechanical Pm and power ratio readings on the TCU and app are just estimates obtained by multiplying measured electrical Pm by a constant assumed efficiency of 80%. Don't recall that they show raw electrical Pm data anywhere. Just confirming that you...

    Yikes! Imagine that happening to you at the speeds these guys ride on the flat? But was it really the rim's fault? That photo has me wondering if the cascading wheel failure started near the hub end? Or did the tire come off the rim at speed, trashing the rest of the wheel secondarily?

    NSW [Australia] considering plan to halve power and top speed of ebikes as rider dies in collision with garbage truck

    OK, here's a deal: We'll start calling them roundabouts if you guys start driving on the correct side of the road. ;^}

    You say drag humor, but not not sure which one's in drag. It's the manager, right? ;^}

    Exactly why I hang out here: I have you guys to point me to the unfamiliar races I would probably have passed over otherwise.

    Van der Poel's artful dodge of a downed rider's head, then decisive solo victory More separate crashes in this race than I've ever seen by a long shot, one after another. Mind-boggling!

    NSW [Australia] considering plan to halve power and top speed of ebikes as rider dies in collision with garbage truck

    I just assume that any car coming up on my left as I approach any opportunity for them to turn right is at least thinking about cutting me off. Happened to me yesterday with an empty parking spot up ahead. I turn my head and look straight at the driver if at all possible. Just to remind them...

    Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

    Just a few shots from today's 25 mi coast ride to Oceanside and back. Beach art in the making from a stop on the Oceanside pier. Impressive precision. No idea what it meant at the time but looked up the phrase just now. And lo and behold, there was a real "planetary parade" tonight — an...

    Winter Sucks

    Following up on this morning's pre-ride post... Felt like 70F on the Coast Highway today — not the 80F predicted for Carlsbad by The Weather Channel app that Samsung put on my phone. To be fair, Carlsbad goes far enough inland that it could well have been 80F somewhere here today. To its...

    Winter Sucks

    Sunny, 80F, very light breeze today — apparently a record high for coastal San Diego County. Unclear from the regional pressure center pattern and associated flows where this very warm air is coming from. Not a typical Santa Ana setup. Definitely a day to stick to the Coast Highway. Headed out...
