2025 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

I would like to dedicate this ride to my dear mum who passed on this day in 2008, she was a special lady! We finally had a fully dry day for the first time in weeks, well not fully dry as there was a very light shower this morning on my drive to Falkirk for a nice morning walk with my sister...

Yet another early start due to weather, thankfully I stayed dry this time! The winds were back also, 30mph from the SSE but it was very mild and the roads were dry! I left at 7am and decided to head down to the Clyde Valley while it was quiet, its full of garden centres and can be very busy but...

Yes I know him, he actually unicycled the world! He also did the River Thames from source to sea on a tiny raft, he doesn't do things by half...😂 I haven't watched his River Tay videos, can't stand watching those shorts in portrait...

Another early start due to weather, just after 7am this time so not as early as Sunday! The wind was from the SW and only around 15mph for a nice change, my plan was to ride down to Muirkirk in East Ayrshire which would have been around 75-80 miles and I was hoping to get home for lunchtime and...

I had another weather window but this time it was a 6am start (first light) to beat the wind and rain, as it turned out there was no rain at all but the wind was gnarly at times! The wind was a direct southerly and gusting around 25-30mph when I set off just ater 6am and was set to increase as...

I had a 5 hour weather window today and thought a ride out to the Forth Bridge fitted the bill nicely, I was right! We had a rare SE wind which wasn't really in my favour for this ride but thankfully it wasn't a howling wind for a change, only around 20-25mph! I made my way out to Slamannan via...

Those hills you mention played a big part in my decision to go for the e bike in 2018, best decision I ever made! I remember the days when I had to slog up the hills but I still loved it, especially the descents of course... ;) I know how lucky I am to have such amazing roads on my doorstep, its...

Yesterday was another calm day here but I had things to do in the morning so couldn't get out until late morning, I headed east to Blackridge where I turned north up the climb to Heights! It was a cloudy day with a temp of 19C, if the sun had come out it would have been pretty hot so I was...

Today was one of those rare perfect cycling days that only come along once in a while, a still morning and a pleasant 14C! I made my way to the cycle path at Plains to avoid the morning traffic and passed Hillend loch which was looking very low again after the recent dry spell! I then headed...

Another hot day here, I had things to do in the morning so didn't get out until 11.45am with the temp around 22C! Thankfully there was a lovely 20mph easterly breeze blowing which kept me nice and cool for the most part, I decided to enjoy the fresh breeze and head east out to West Calder! I...

We are experiencing a heatwave here, nothing like what most of you guys experience but with a summer average of around 18C we can't handle 28C... 🤣 Thankfully today was much cooler so I made the most of it, leaving at 6.15am for Ayrshire as it was showing the coolest temps! It was a little misty...

My luck ran out last Thursday when I got properly soaked on a 50 mile ride, it was another very windy day surprisingly... 😂 Fast forward to today and the weather was so much nicer, still windy of course but not the crazy winds we have been getting! I started on the main roads because it was a...

Former 2 time downhill mountain bike champion, hence the bling bike! ;) The speeds those guys do on those extremely rough downhill tracks is insane, I've done over 50mph on my e bike on smooth roads but doing that on rough tracks takes balls of steel...🤣

The storm passed without incident yesterday, it was still pretty wild today and the forecast was showing rain showers pretty much all day! In the afternoon I spotted a clearing in the weather and decided to go for it, I had to think carefully about my route as the wind was still very gusty at...

100% certain I won't, the winds around here will be around 60mph and that's inland! I think even @Chargeride won't venture out in this one...but he isn't human so... 🤣 The big danger at this time of year is trees being in full bloom, I think it will be carnage in exposed areas!

I would recommend Glencoe, I did it many times on my motorbike and it was incredible and I'm sure it would be just as enjoyable in a car! The whole area is amazing, you have Fort William and Oban close by and they are worth a visit for sure!
